During NVIDIA’s quarterly earnings call last week, CEO Jen-Hsun Huang announced that they would be focusing specifically on Android powered devices with the second generation of their Tegra chipset.

The Tegra platform is a S.O.C. or ‘system-on-a-chip’, which means that it integrates the CPU, GPU, northbridge, southbridge and memory controller onto a single chip. At the moment most Android handsets are using S.O.C’s developed by Qualcomm – you may have been hearing a lot about the Snapdragon recently, which is one of Qualcomm’s more popular chipsets.

It looks like the patent war between Apple and HTC is beginning to heat up. Apple fired the opening shot two months ago when they filed suit against HTC, claiming they infringed on a number of their patents, and until today, things kept fairly quiet. However, as expected, HTC won’t give up with out a fight, and has retaliated by filing their own patent suit with the ITC asking that all imports and sales of iPhones, iPads and iPods be halted.

Details are being kept internally between team members right now but what we do know is that the CyanogenMod has been ported onto an iPhone 3GS.

Everyone is pretty tight lipped for now but this seems so far to be legitimate, as one of the team members has confirmed the port is working via twitter.

It was only a few days ago when reports surfaced of the Android OS having been ported onto the iPhone 2G which was crazy enough to hear but now the advent of CyanogenMod on the 3GS is almost downright insane.

Apple has just announced that iPhone OS 4 will support multitasking, allowing users to dive in and out of apps and keep some parts of an app running in the background while doing other things.

This is all done through a pop-up dock like interface that can be accessed by double pressing the home button. This will bring up all the apps that are currently running in the background.

Steve Jobs said they’ve figured out how to implement multitasking without it being detrimental to battery life or the performance of the phone.

I hate using the term "###### killer", so I will not be calling it an iPad killer. However, it is going to give Apple a run for its money.

The report suggests that 24% of all tablets sold in 2010 will be running the Android OS. Microsoft will be following way behind at only 10% of the market.

The first place will be undoubtedly occupied by Apple's iPad, which was released 2 days ago and sold an estimated 700,000 units just on day one.
