I tested Fossify Gallery to see if it's the perfect replacement for Simple Gallery

The spiritual successor to the original Simple Gallery stacks up, and then some

By now, you've probably heard about the buyout at Simple App Tools, a formerly open-source publisher that provided an entire library of brilliant apps that functioned as alternatives to the stock options standard on any Android device, one of which was the popular app Simple Gallery. It was originally free and provided an awesome upgrade to your standard gallery app, with superior image navigation, identification, editing, and sharing settings. But then the buyout happened, and users woke up to find a price tag and title change to their beloved app, Simple Gallery Pro.

Daybridge beta hands-on: A reimagined calendar app with lots of potential

Is new calendar app Daybridge actually solving a problem?

4
By

In true start-up fashion, Daybridge is attempting to solve a problem that wasn't there, to begin with. "There's more to life than meetings," it claims, a statement that settles nicely along with others like "plates are useful" and "I wish I could be paid more." This declaration that most calendar apps are designed around work foremost and social life second is how Daybridge gets to promise a solution to that problem (if it even is one) by building a calendar you'll use for your social life just as much as work.

Diablo Immortal hands-on: Between the Devil and the deep blue sea

Blizzard's greed apparently knows no bounds

Yesterday Diablo Immortal started rolling out to the masses even though today is the game's official release date on mobile (with the PC beta going live today too). Since the stable version has been available for over 24 hours now, and since today is release day, I've taken the opportunity to dive deep for a hands-on, to offer my early impression of the stable release, with a lengthy gameplay video included that showcases precisely how Diablo Immortal plays (this includes the in-game shop and all settings). So if you've been eager to see what the stable release of Diablo Immortal has to offer, today's hands-on is for you.

I used AR to give my uncle remote tech support, and it actually worked

Finally, you can help your family fix their tech long before coming home for the holidays

Sometimes, remote tech support involves more than just taking over your parents' computer using TeamViewer and co, like when the laptop just won't turn on or when the TV doesn't automatically default to the right HDMI input. That's where video calls and complicated instructions come in. "Hit this button. No, the other one. What do you mean it didn't turn on?" or "Plug in the cable. In the connector on the left, with the square plug. No, no, not this one!" are just a few conversations too many of us have probably had in their lives, these days more than ever.

Popular grocery shopping list Out of Milk has been sold, and its new owner wants to terminate all contracts with users outside of the US and Canada. That's a shame — from all I hear, Out of Milk is a great service millions of people love to use. But for many, this news means it's time to move on, and even if you reside in the US or Canada, you might be wary about the future of the app. That's where my favorite grocery shopping app could come in, created by a team of Swiss and German developers — Bring.

OnePlus built a promising cross-platform clipboard tool, and you can try it right now

It's called Clipt, and it's the first service from the company's 'innovation' hub OneLab

Last week, OnePlus introduced a new software initiative called OneLab, which is pretty similar to Google's Creative Lab — a startup-like division set up to create fun or interesting new apps and tools. The first of these experiments comes in the form of Clipt, a cross-platform clipboard sharing tool that makes it easy to transfer text, images, and files across your devices — even iOS support is planned.

Music is definitely everywhere. From our own personal libraries and streaming stations to advertisements and entertainment, it is a fundamental part of who we are as individuals and as a culture (for better or for worse). Since music is just noise (how's that for a scientific breakthrough), I have always found it neat to see the visual representation of the soundwaves in line with the song that is playing. Back when Windows Media Player was a thing, I always turned on the visualizer, finding it much more entertaining than staring at the album art — or worse, the placeholder image when no art was available.
