Back in February, he proclaimed that the new app would be released before the end of the year, eliciting feelings of pure euphoria indifference. Finally, the new dawn of Snapchat on Android is upon us.

A new Android developer preview program is always an exciting moment here at Android Police. We love to dig into everything new and provide you with an early look at unreleased features. Pixel phones now let you schedule reboots after an OTA update, pause updates while phone is 'in use'

Security updates come every month for Pixel owners, but we don't usually expect any user-facing changes to arrive with them. With the February patches, however, there appear to be a few little differences. The most minor of those is the moving of the 'About Phone' menu in the settings, but the update process itself has some new features.

When Nokia sent out its last Android 9 Pie developer preview at the beginning of August, HMD Global CPO Juho Sarvikas proclaimed on Twitter that it would be the last one before the final stable version, due this month. The company must have hit a slight snag, as it's now pushing out another point release even though the final build was expected this month.

Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge receiving Android 8.0 Oreo update in the UK

Recently in the US, Verizon inadvertently trolled Galaxy S7 and S7 edge owners on its network by releasing an update that supposedly brought Android Oreo to the devices. It turns out the carrier had just attached the wrong changelog, and Oreo wasn't imminent at all. To rub salt into the wounds of those customers, S7 and S7 edge units in the UK are now actually receiving the Oreo update.

Moto Z Play update to Android 8.0 Oreo is starting to roll out in India

Lenovo-owned Motorola isn't always that fast when it comes to updating the OS of its older phones. It took a critical post from us late last year to get the company to honor its promise of releasing an 8.0 Oreo update for the Moto G4, for example. The Moto Mod-compatible Z Play from 2016 received Android 7.1.1 Nougat last summer, and now it's finally getting Oreo.

Moto Z2 Force Android 8.0 Oreo update underway at Sprint

Motorola may be in the middle of a big staffing shake-up, but that's not stopping the company from keeping up with the flow of software updates for its existing hardware. Last year we saw Moto's flagship Z series, with its support for modular hardware add-ons, evolve with its second generation of handsets, including the high-end Moto Z2 Force. For the past couple months now, we've been watching Motorola's Oreo update for the Z2 Force spread to devices on more and more carriers, and now it looks like we're adding Sprint to that list.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium is getting Android 8.0 Oreo starting today

A few days ago, Sony Xperia XZ Premium owners may have seen news about the promised Android 8.0 Oreo release for their phone. That's more than a month ahead of the previously stated date, and users will be thrilled to have their devices running the latest and greatest version of Android so soon.
