OnePlus One gets Android 10 thanks to LineageOS 17.1, available now

Custom ROMs are no longer as popular as they once were, but they still have their place in the Android world. Here's an example: the OnePlus One, a phone that came out in 2014, is now able to run stable Android 10 by way of LineageOS 17.1, which has just been released to the open-source project's download page.

Sprint and T-Mobile Galaxy A20 units finally receive Android 10 along with One UI 2.0

Sprint and T-Mobile Galaxy A20 units finally receive Android 10 along with One UI 2.0

The Galaxy A20 launched in April last year for only $120, providing a compelling little package. You'd be forgiven for assuming that Samsung would forget about its existence when it came to software support, given the track record for all non-Android One budget devices. Although several months late, Samsung did update this little guy to Android 10 and said update is now coming to Sprint models.

New devices with 2GB of RAM or less must run Android Go, according to leaked documents

New devices with 2GB of RAM or less must run Android Go, according to leaked documents

There are a plethora of cheap, low-power phones (and some tablets) out there running Android Go, a specialized version of Android tailored to weaker hardware. Its use is not mandatory, though, so there are also plenty of devices that can feel less optimized and might shine a bad light on Android as a whole for those who have never owned another phone with the OS. It looks like Google wants to change that, as a leaked document shows that starting with Android 11, any device with less than 2GB of RAM wishing to ship with Google software must use the easily updatable, low-power Android Go version.

How to share Wi-Fi network passwords via QR code on Android

How to share Wi-Fi network passwords via QR code on Android

Sharing Wi-Fi passwords is one of those awkward parts of modern life that just never seems to have an easy fix. Even with guest networks, you still have to share some kind of information with visitors to your home, and that often means spelling out some nonsense numbers and letter that they'll probably get wrong twice before you just write it down or text it to them. Thankfully, with Android 10, there's a much easier, faster, and simpler way to share your Wi-Fi password, no awkward conversation required.

10 One UI productivity features you should be using on your Galaxy S20

10 One UI productivity features you should be using on your Galaxy S20

Every year there seem to be plenty of articles discussing how to make your new Samsung phone feel like a Pixel. I even wrote one, for those of you who do want a Pixel-like experience. I don't necessarily think it's a good idea, however — if you want your phone to be like a Pixel, you should've bought a Pixel in the first place. It also gives the impression that One UI is terrible, or at least worse than stock Android. While some might agree with that, I certainly don't. In my opinion, One UI is the best flavor of Android out there, and it has lots of features and tricks that deserve more attention.

Android 10 has been the most quickly adopted Android update ever

Android 10 has been the most quickly adopted Android update ever

Critics of Android are always quick to point out its very real fragmentation issue, and how long it takes for major version updates to land across the ecosystem. But it's less of a problem with every major update, and that's culminated with last year's Android 10 release. Between Treble, GSIs, and Project Mainline, Google has been making a good dent in update uptake in the last two years, and Android 10 has seen the fastest adoption of any Android update ever.

Android 10 (Go Edition) comes to the entry-level Nokia 1

Released back in 2018 for the low, low price of just $85, the Nokia 1 has been one of the most affordable Android options on the market. In our review, we found that it maybe made a bit too many compromises to reach that price point, but one area that Nokia didn't compromise on is software updates. Despite being a sub-$100 phone from over two years ago, the Nokia 1 is now receiving an upgrade to Android 10.

Galaxy Tab S6 now receiving Android 10 update, including T-Mobile model

Samsung’s recent efforts to proactively release Android 10 to its flagship handsets left us impressed, considering the Korean brand was notorious for its protracted release schedules not too long ago. So far, at least, it's stuck to the Android 10 rollout roadmap that the company disclosed in late November. After updating many of its recent smartphones, Samsung is now also attending to its tablet range, starting with the 2019 flagship. A number of user reports from Germany have surfaced, revealing that the Galaxy Tab S6 is receiving the Android 10 update, in line with its scheduled April release.
