The Bose QC35 headphones have been one of the most popular ones on the market for a while. Then came the Sony WH-1000XM3 and WH-1000XM4, which were considered by many to be superior, and inevitably dethroned Bose when it came to ANC headphones. Bose did release a newer product, the NC 700, which haven't been nearly as popular as the QC35. This is probably due to their lack of convenience, as they can't be folded, but also their relatively high price.
The company had to come up with a new product that would help it regain its leadership position: The QC45.
When it comes to ANC headphones, Sony's WH-1000XM3 are considered one of the best models in the category. They're not the newest one, though, as they were released back in 2019. However, they still offer great audio quality and noise cancelation, and, most importantly, they're down to just $170, which is almost half their original price.
Sony's WH-1000XM4 headphones are, if you believe their many fans, among the very best noise-canceling headphones on the market today. Like the XM3s before them, the XM4s are frequently on sale for well under their $350 MSRP, but they're still usually in the $300 neighborhood or higher. Right now, though, you can snag a refurbished pair for $200 — the lowest price we've seen so far.
Thanks to an exorbitantly high price tag, Microsoft's first pair of headphones failed to make much of a splash when they hit the market in 2018. The company made up for its mistakes with a cheaper second-gen model last year, but these days, you can find some great deals on the original set. If you've been waiting patiently for an affordable over-ear headset, your time has come. Microsoft's ANC-equipped headphones are down to just $80 on Woot.
Microsoft's first-generation Surface Headphones launched at an ambitious $350. Partially due to that price, they didn't really catch on (Microsoft seemingly acknowledged this blunder by introducing the second generation at an MSRP $100 lower). They're still good headphones, though — and today, you can nab a pair for just $82 from Woot.
Sony's really been upping its headphone game in the last few years, and now it makes some of the best-regarded sets on the market, in both full around-the-ear and true wireless bud style. Today no less than three of its most popular designs have dramatic discounts available, including the best-in-class WH-1000XM4 noise cancelling set.
Sony's WH-1000XM4 are, in the opinion of a sizable portion of techy people, the very best noise-canceling headphones you can buy. They took everything good about the prior generation — namely, great ANC and sound quality — and built on it with enhanced performance and additional features. Right now, you can snag a pair over at Adorama for $70 below their MSRP, and get a free power bank to boot.
They're nearly three years old now, but Sony's WH-1000XM3 noise-canceling headphones are still among the best you can buy. They go on sale pretty frequently anymore, but not usually for this cheap: you can pick up a pair for just $200 today — or $180 for refurbished units.
ANC headphones can get pricey, but if you don't need the best of the best, there are some good bargains available. Case in point: the Razer Opus. Already fairly priced at their normal $200, you can cop a pair for $60 off right now at Amazon.
