The Pixel 4 and 4 XL have already been in the hands of reviewers and customers for a while now. With the first real-word reports coming up, we were stunned to see huge discrepancies between battery usage statistics and ominous 60Hz screen refresh rate lock-ins for some people who seemingly couldn't get the 90Hz Smooth Display mode working. A recent finding shines light into the issue: The display only switches to 90Hz with a screen brightness set above 75%.

Auto90 lets you force OnePlus 7 Pro's 90Hz mode on a per-app basis

The OnePlus 7 Pro is one of a few Android phones to support a display refresh rate of 90Hz. While this makes for a buttery smooth scrolling experience, using the 90Hz mode also drains the battery much faster than the regular 60Hz rate that most phones have. The 7 Pro does have a dynamic, content-aware switcher built-in, but if you'd like to have more control, the recently released Auto90 app might be for you. It allows you to set preferred display modes on a per-app basis, though the setup is fairly complicated.
