Strategy Analytics Says Manufacturers Shipped More Than A Billion Android Phones In 2014

Think of the number one billion. A billion of just about anything is a lot - people, bananas, cars, pints of novelty ice cream flavors. According to a report published by market research firm Strategy Analytics, the number of Android powered smartphones shipped last year was approximately one billion, forty-one million, seven hundred thousand (give or take a few tractor-trailers worth). That's about one Android phone for every seven people on the planet, not counting tablets, set-top boxes, and other Android-powered devices.

Motorola Promises Pre-Order For 'New Products,' Moto 360 Stock Refresh Tuesday

Motorola, in a post to its official blog today, announced that the Moto 360 would be back in stock on its website beginning Tuesday, September 16th. What's more exciting, though, is the promise of pre-order for new products beginning the same day. Yes, that means the new Moto X.

But before you get too excited, only the Moto X Pure Edition (the unbranded, unlocked version), and the AT&T variant will be available for pre-order Tuesday.

Samsung Rumored To Be Launching An Android Wear Smartwatch At Google I/O

There have been rumors recently that LG's G Watch might be the focus of Google I/O's Android Wear discussion, with the nascent device possibly being handed out to attendees. Whether Moto's watch, the Moto 360, would make an appearance has remained unclear. Until today though, those were the only two Android Wear devices even rumored for I/O cameos.

Cnet has reported, however, that Samsung will (according to sources) be throwing its hat into the Android Wear ring at I/O as well, debuting an Android Wear smartwatch of its own.

Google Sneaks In One Last I/O Ticket Redemption Code In Social Message Photo

Now that Google I/O is upon us and the hunt for secret codes planted all over the Android dev resources is over, Google has made one person somewhere very happy. You see, earlier today, the company posted a seemingly innocent Google+ message reminding us the conference is coming soon.
