Some Pixel 7 users are already getting Circle to Search
An update to the Google app seems to be triggering availability
The big March 2024 Pixel Feature Drop has arrived — well, technically it won't start rolling out in the US until next week, but it's already going live in some markets — and the headlining feature is that Google's new Circle to Search utility is becoming available on older Pixel phones, namely the 7 and 7 Pro. Usually, these things take a matter of days, if not weeks, to hit actual phones in the wild, but this particular feature seems to be arriving sooner than any of us expected.
When the Google Pixel 7 Pro launched, it posed a unique problem — it was the first of its lineup to feature a curved screen. That doesn’t sound like an issue, you say? Well, it means a standard screen protector wouldn’t work well with the curvature, so third-party manufacturers had to pivot and release a new design that fits nicely over the display and doesn’t interfere with the fingerprint reader. Of course, it’s a challenge they’ve faced before, so users didn’t have to go without protection for their new Pixel 7 Pros.
Google Pixel 7 vs. Pixel 5: Should you upgrade?
The Pixel 7, making up for the faults of the Pixel 5
Experts and average consumers consider the Google Pixel family one of the best lineups of high-end smartphones, year in and year out. And, it makes sense that Google goes all out on its flagship handsets, showcasing its streamlined Android implementation, novel hardware considerations, and class-leading picture-taking abilities. Our Google Pixel 7 review clearly showed that the 2022 release lived up to that hype.
If you're disillusioned with the AI-packed Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, the Pixel 7 or Pixel 7 Pro might be a better choice for you. These devices boast fantastic cameras, the performance-friendly Tensor G2 chip, and a sleek, refined design. These are the best features of both Pixel 7 phones. If you just picked one up and are ready to get started, change these settings on your new phone before using it.
Google Pixel 7 vs. Pixel 6: Should you upgrade?
The Pixel 7 is a more refined version of the Pixel 6, but is either worth buying in 2024? Largely, no.
The Google Pixel 6 launched in 2021 and instantly became one of the best Android phones you could get, despite a few stumbling blocks from Google's first-gen Tensor chipset. The Pixel 7 launched a year later, fixing many of those issues and providing a more polished experience. Both phones look, feel, and act very similarly, and at this point, both have been made obsolete by the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 7a.
