Holy Crap: Samsung Has Sold 200,000 Galaxy S In S. Korea

Holy Crap: Samsung Has Sold 200,000 Galaxy S In S. Korea

The title says it all: Samsung has sold a whopping 200,000 Galaxy S’ in the first 10 days in South Korea. That may not seem like a lot in comparison to the iPhone 4’s 1.7m in 3 days, but keep in mind that the iPhone 4 launched internationally. South Korea’s population (as of 2009) was just over 50 million people – meaning they’re less than 1/6 the size of the US.

Samsung Galaxy S Is A Beast, Runs Quake 3 Perfectly

So, by now, you’ve probably already heard that the Samsung Galaxy S is a beast at gaming – it can produce a staggering 90 million triangles per second compared to the Nexus One’s 22 million. But that is just one spec, and real world tests are what most people care about. Quake 3 has now been ported to both devices, and it acts as a great test of each device's gaming capabilities.

Radio Shack Sweetens The Deal For T-Mobile's Samsung Vibrant Pre-Orders With A $50 Gift Card

If you’re already planning to pick up T-Mobile’s first high-end Android offering, the Samsung Vibrant, then you’ll probably want to think about getting your pre-order at RadioShack instead of from T-Mobile directly.

RadioShack is offering the phone at the same $199.99 price as T-Mobile (when opening a new account or upgrading your line), but without the pesky mail-in rebate.

That isn’t enough to sway you? Well, then you’ll want to get your pre-order in before July 18 – in addition to free shipping, everyone who does gets a no-strings-attached $50 RadioShack gift card.

Canadians Get In On The Galaxy S Action With Bell's Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant

Samsung’s plan for world smartphone domination seems to be going smoothly. After the news that their Galaxy S would be launching on all major US carriers (as well as US Cellular), it has just been announced that the phone will also be launching on Bell, Canada’s second-largest cell phone carrier, as the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant (just Samsung Vibrant wasn't enough, eh buddies?).

The specs are, of course, similar to the Galaxy S models that have already been announced for US carriers:

  • 4.0” Super AMOLED screen
  • 1 GHz Hummingbird processor
  • 5 megapixel camera
  • and Android 2.1 with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI.

Our Samsung Galaxy S Launch Event Report, Photos, And Q&A

Our Samsung Galaxy S Launch Event Report, Photos, And Q&A

Last night, Samsung officially announced their Galaxy S smartphone family at a swank New York City party after several weeks of blurrycam shots, spec sheets and rumors. Spanning all four major US carriers - Sprint, Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile - the Galaxy S flavors stand to be a surging juggernaut in the HTC dominated Android world.

Incidentally, I was at the event and had the pleasure of doing a live blogging session, followed by some hands-on time with all the phones.

Samsung Moment II To Be Called Intercept – Coming To Sprint July 11

Samsung Moment II To Be Called Intercept – Coming To Sprint July 11

Word over at Boy Genius Report is that the Samsung Moment II will be known as the Samsung Intercept. Technical details are a little scarce right now, but we do know:

  • Android 2.1 (Eclair)
  • 3.2” display (I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s AMOLED, ‘cause Samsung)
  • 4 row, slide-out keyboard
  • Wi-Fi (would guess 802.11n)
  • GPS
  • 2 Color Choices – Pink or Dark Gray

Given that Samsung doesn’t seem to be in much of a hurry to get their phones hotted-up via FroYo, I doubt they’ll update to Android 2.2 before launch.

Samsung Galaxy S Series Devices Now Confirmed For Sprint (Epic 4G), Verizon (Fascinate), And US Cellular. T-Mobile’s Version (Vibrant) Details Emerge

It was reported some time ago that the Samsung Galaxy S would hit every major carrier in the US – and it seems like the prediction was dead on. First announced for AT&T as the Samsung Captivate, the Galaxy S has already been confirmed for T-Mobile as the Samsung Vibrant, and was just announced as the Samsung Epic 4G for Sprint, the Samsung Fascinate for Verizon, and an unnamed version of the device for US Cellular.
