Samsung, continuing its habit of timely code releases, today let fly open source kernel files for a handful of devices including Verizon's newly announced Galaxy Camera (EK-GC120), AT&T's Galaxy SIII Jelly Bean update (SGH-I747), and last but not least, AT&T's Galaxy Tab 8.9 Ice Cream Sandwich release (SGH-I957).

It's been a long time coming, hasn't it owners of AT&T Galaxy Tab 8.9's (SGH-i957)? All other variants of Samsung's Galaxy Tab 8.9 have been sporting Ice Cream Sandwich for weeks - even months in some situations. And it's finally your turn. I'm genuinely happy for you. Seriously. I am. You waited it out, and you deserve this.

Samsung has been slowly but surely pushing Ice Cream Sandwich to last year's Galaxy Tab series. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wi-Fi was the most recent Tab in the series to get the update here in the U.S. and, considering the devices are nearly identical, it left owners of the Tab 8.9 wondering where their update was.

Tablets are good for a lot of things: surfing the web, playing games, watching movies, checking email, and even getting some work done, among others. For many of us, the tablet has largely replaced the smartphone as a go-to device for mobile computing. On occasion, though, it needs a little help to make certain tasks - such as listening to music - a standout experience. For that, there's no shortage of speaker accessories available, many of which are small, portable, and Bluetooth. If you want something with a little more oomph and a little less portability for your Galaxy Tab (10.1/8.9/ 7.0 Plus or Tab 2 10.1/7), then iLuv may have just what the doctor ordered.

CyanogenMod 9 may still be a ways out, lending some credence to the claim that upgrading from Gingerbread to ICS is a very long endeavor. However, if you're willing to live your life on the bleeding edge, and you own an international Galaxy S III variant, then the time is right for you: CM9 nightlies are now available for your device.

Samsung Canada has finished porting Ice Cream Sandwich to a whole bunch of devices, which in Samsung press release parlance means they are "eligible" for an upgrade. Does that mean you can hit that "update" button today and start downloading ICS? Well, that's complicated.

AT&T Releases List Of Devices To Receive Ice Cream Sandwich Update

Seeing as how the HTC Vivid officially started getting its update to ICS this morning, AT&T thought it would be the best time to go ahead and tell everyone else who will (and won't) be getting the update as well. While this list holds few surprises when it comes to devices that made the cut, there are a few devices seemingly absent:

Task lists. We all have them, but only some of us actually use them. One key way to ensure that you use your task list to its fullest potential is to keep it synchronized between all of your devices. So, how do you do that, you ask? With Tasks N Todos from Handy Apps. This is a killer all-in-one solution for taking away your "I forgot" approach to not getting things done.

Are you ready for another awesome giveaway? This may be our best one yet (but trust us - we've got some even better ones coming), and once again, it's open to a whole host of countries around the world (we've added a few more EU countries, so check the eligibility list). For your consideration, today we have 3 Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 bundles up for grabs, which include the Tegra-powered Galaxy Tab 8.9, Jambox wireless Bluetooth speaker, and $25 AMEX gift card. Once again, our pals at NVIDIA have put together an amazing prize package for our readers.

If you're just dying to get some of AT&T's LTE action packed in tablet without having to mortgage your house, then Samsung may just be your new best friend. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is coming to Ma Bell on November 20 for an on-contract price of $480, and if you pick one up early on, you can score a free Galaxy S II Skyrocket or Galaxy S II. The inclusion of the phone requires a two-year agreement, but if you're already signing a couple of years away on the tablet contract, you might as well go ahead and score a free beastly phone while you're at it.

Samsung was kind enough to send a Galaxy Tab 8.9 our way for review last week ("surprise!"), and I have to say: this thing is thin, light, sexy... and Samsung's custom user interface (UI), TouchWiz, is not fit for tablets.

We try to avoid excessive posts about FCC filings that may or may not be for Android goodies coming to the US, but this one was a dead giveaway for AT&T. Just take a look:

We just posted up our review of the brand-new 3rd person shooter Shadowgun, by Madfinger games. Now, thanks to NVIDIA, we're celebrating the release with yet another amazing giveaway. One winner will receive the following:

Samsung officially announced the Galaxy Tab 8.9 yesterday, and today, the kernel source has been released. Considering we already know what the Tegra 2 is capable of and how much it can be overclocked while remaining completely stable, I expect to see 1.4GHz kernels pop up before the device is even released.

It seems that T-Mobile isn't the only one with a handful of big announcements today.  Samsung has just unveiled a selection of brand new devices to give us even more to look forward to in the coming months.

If you've been hiding your tablet lust until something larger than a 7-incher, but smaller than the current crop of 10s hits the market, then you've probably been eyeballin' the Galaxy Tab 8.9 since Sammy first announced it back in March. It has been a long wait indeed, but the pre-order page on Best Buy's website is officially live, with the 32GB variant coming in at $569, and its smaller 16Gb counterpart at only $469.

Whoosh - looks like we can take the report of upgrades to the already impressive Galaxy S II and the upcoming Tab 8.9 from the rumor bucket and place it carefully on top of the confirmed stack. In fact, the rumor was not only spot-on regarding everything Samsung just officially announced, it even had more information that Samsung didn't cover, which means some details will keep the rumor tag until we find out more.

It looks like Sammy has some big news for us in the coming weeks -- we already know we're going to hear about the Galaxy Tab 7.7 and the Galaxy Note at the IFA conference beginning September 1st, but now we're hearing rumors that Sammy will also unveil LTE versions of the Galaxy S II and the Galaxy Tab 8.9, both rocking upgraded specs from their non-LTE counterparts.

Unveiled at CTIA earlier this year, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 was slated for a “summer” launch in the US. However, if the Amazon UK pre-order page is the real deal it looks like our English cousins will be the first to get their hands on this device when it launches on August 12th in the UK (the original “in stock date” was reported as August 11th by Engadget, however this appears to have changed).

One of the most exciting announcements of this week was, without a doubt, the unveiling of the 2 new super-slim Galaxy Tabs, the 8.9 and the 10.1, at the CTIA Wireless conference in Orlando.
