Samsung partners with uBreakiFix for easy walk-in Galaxy repairs

It doesn't matter how careful you are. It doesn't matter how much you baby your phone, how rugged a case you keep it in, or how religious you are about avoiding accidental drops. Despite your very best efforts, accidents can still damage your phone. When the worst happens, we want to get our devices back on their feet as quickly as possible. Now Samsung's working to streamline that recovery process for Galaxy users, as it partners with uBreakiFix to bring authorized Samsung Care repairs to over 300 uBreakiFix locations across the U.S.

Galaxy S9 comes out impressively well after going through JerryRigEverything's durability test

Zack from JerryRigEverything has become famous for his (somewhat extreme) durability tests, and now he's finally gotten his hands on a new Galaxy S9 to put through its paces.

Starting off with the scratch test, the S9's screen only begins scratching with a level 6 pick, and displays deeper groves at level 7. This is absolutely on par with essentially every other smartphone around (with the exception of sapphire screens that only begin to scratch at a level 8), and means the Galaxy S9's display should hold up fine against razor blades, coins, and keys.

Samsung is rolling out an update for the Galaxy S9/S9+ with March 2018 security patches

The Galaxy S9 is just starting to make its way out to pre-order customers, but Samsung is wasting no time getting the device updated. The first OTA for Samsung's latest phone is hitting devices, but deployment will probably vary by region and carriers. When you do get the update, it'll bump your phone to the latest security patches that just rolled out to Pixels the other day.

Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ review: Refinement, refined

When Samsung announced the Galaxy S9, “that’s it?” wasn’t exactly an uncommon reaction. The Galaxy S9 is, frankly, kind of boring. But when you’re the most successful manufacturer of premium Android phones in the world by a wide margin, you can afford to be a little boring every once in a while.

Samsung knows this. As such, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ don’t represent a sea change. Rather, they’re an affirmation of success. Everything that made the Galaxy S8 and S8+ great phones is still to be found here. Wireless charging, Samsung Pay, headphone jacks, brilliant displays, extremely refined industrial design, and IP68 waterproofing make these phones extremely feature-rich.

Galaxy S9 and S9+ will go on sale in India on March 16

India is one of the largest smartphone markets in the world, but a large portion of flagship devices don't arrive in the country until weeks or months after initial release. In the past, Samsung has typically launched new devices in India a little while after they come out in other markets. For example, the Galaxy S8/S8+ went on sale in the US on April 21 of last year, but the phone didn't arrive in India until May 5.

This time around, DisplayMate has awarded the Galaxy S9 an "Excellent A+" grade.
