Samsung promises 50% cash back if you return your Galaxy S20 within 2 years

Samsung is reportedly disappointed with S20 sales, and that has manifested as a new "buy-back" program available to buyers of the Galaxy S20 series. If you pick up a Galaxy S20, Samsung promises to buy it back for 50% of the full retail price if you send it back within two years. That could mean hundreds of dollars for a phone that's on its last legs in 23 months and 29 days.

It's 2020, why don't Samsung phones support Android's seamless updates?

Keeping current with system updates is the single most important thing you can do to keep your phone safe, and long ago, installing those updates was an incredibly slow process. But back in 2016, Google tried to make things better with new "seamless updates" that made it an easy background process — you could even use your phone as they installed. Since then, most phone manufacturers have come around to the idea, with one very big exception: For whatever reason, Samsung refuses to give its phones the feature. Even its latest, $1,400 Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra uses decidedly non-ultra, antiquated, super-slow updates that knock your phone out of commission for a solid 3-15 minutes as they install.

How to transfer your phone's apps, messages, and photos to your new Galaxy S20

Getting a new phone is an exciting experience, especially when you take it out of the box for the first time. But when you're so interested in getting up and running, having to slow down as you import data, rearrange the homescreen, and transfer all of your stuff can put a damper on that excitement. Setting up your new Galaxy S20 couldn't be easier, though, thanks to Samsung Smart Switch.

Samsung Galaxy S20 owners are experiencing GPS lock issues

The Galaxy S20 lineup comes with exceptional hardware and Samsung's familiar high-end design, but just like any tech product, they're not perfect. We were not too impressed by the ratio of the S20 Ultra's capabilities and its price, and now an issue has popped up that affects the whole S20 series: Some people report that they can't get a GPS lock in Google Maps and Waze on their brand-new phones.

Energy Ring brings its hole-punch battery indicator to the Galaxy S20

Ever since the launch of the Galaxy S10 last year, developers have had a whale of a time making fun and exciting apps for the camera cutout. One of my favorites is Energy Ring, an app that, as the name implies, puts a ring around the hole-punch to represent your battery level. Due to the different display sizes and aspect ratios, the developer released a separate version of the app for the Note 10 series, and has now done the same for the S20 range.

Samsung releases Galaxy S20 series kernel source

Samsung just launched the Galaxy S20 series a few days ago, but you can already mosey over the Samsung website to grab the official kernel source. The Exynos variants popped up a few days ago, but now the Snapdragon variants are live as well. The open source code isn't going to do you much good if you're not a developer, but the result of making that code available might.
