Galaxy S10 has an eye-meltingly bright display, dead-on color reproduction

Samsung's new Galaxy S10 has started shipping and, like every new high-end phone from the company, the new flagship has the best screen DisplayMate has ever seen. Specs include an eye-searing 1,215 nit maximum brightness — though that number in isolation is just a bit misleading.

Netflix adds HDR certification for Galaxy S10 lineup, HD support for Galaxy M-series and latest Snapdragon chipsets

Whenever a major new Android device debuts, Netflix tends to add HD and HDR certification to it. Of course, that's not always the case, but Samsung is too big a name to ignore. The Galaxy S10 phones can now play Netflix video in HDR, and lower-end Galaxy M-series devices and newer Snapdragon chipsets now have HD support.

JerryRigEverything puts the Galaxy S10's ultrasonic fingerprint sensor to the test

Samsung's latest phones are expensive, and you don't want to spend $1,000 on something just to have it break. Leave it up to JerryRigEverything to break phones for you. The latest video features the Galaxy S10 surviving all the standard tests, but he also inflicts some extra abuse on the display to test the robustness of the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.

[Update: Now available for download] These wallpapers are perfect for the Galaxy S10's hole-punch camera

The iPhone X started a trend of companies using dark wallpapers to hide (or at least obscure) screen notches. It has been clear since the first press renders leaked that Samsung is also using this tactic to make the Galaxy S10's hole-punch camera less of an eyesore. But as it turns out, you can actually embrace the hole-punch design, given the right background.

Galaxy S10 pre-orders now offered with $130 in store credit from Samsung

Samsung always gives out some sort of bonus with its flagship pre-orders, and this time was no different. All Galaxy S10 pre-orders were supposed to come with a pair of the company's brand-new Galaxy Buds, but the pre-order supply of those has already been depleted. As a result, Samsung is now offering $130 in store credit instead.

The Galaxy S10 will come pre-installed with McAfee bloatware

With its display covering almost the entire front surface, the Galaxy S10's design aims at being simple and clutter-free. Samsung's software, on the other hand, isn't necessarily popular for being sleek, as it noticeably changes Android's classic look and feel. The company has further customized its interface with the recent release of One UI, which looks nice, albeit different from the OS' standard appearance. Galaxy devices also come with extra apps, which are often useless and end up taking additional space. The latest flagships will be no exception as they'll come preloaded with McAfee's anti-malware bloatware.

The Snapdragon 855-powered Galaxy S10 spanks the Exynos 9820 model in benchmarks

It's common knowledge among enthusiasts that the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note flagships are traditionally offered with chipsets from two different brands: Qualcomm and Samsung itself. For the past few years, the Snapdragon models have been outperforming their Exynos brethren, and that's the case for the Galaxy S10 and S10+ as well.

Our first Galaxy S10+ camera samples: good, if not much improved

I've been using the Galaxy S10 for the last few days here at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and I thought I'd share some of the photos I've captured thus far in a little gallery below. You can see photos in this gallery from both the standard and telephoto (zoom/portrait) lens here - I've not had a good opportunity to use the ultra-wide camera just yet. Take a look.

[Update: Coming to older phones] Rejoice: The Galaxy S10's Bixby button can be remapped out of the box

Anyone who's familiar with Samsung phones will know of the company's long-standing fight against third-party developers and their Bixby button-remapping apps. These remapping apps first surfaced shortly after the Galaxy S8 launched, with Samsung quickly taking action to disable them. This back-and-forth continued over the coming months, but it looks like Samsung has finally obliged its Bixby haters by offering a remapping option out of the box with the brand-new Galaxy S10.
