- Nokia has now officially revealed the Android 11 update timeline, and it appears to be identical to the previous leak. The Nokia 8.3, 2.2, 5.3, and 8.1 will be first in line for the upgrade, and the rest of the company's supported lineup will have to wait until 2021.
HMD Global's Nokia phones come with some of the cleanest Android builds around, but that still doesn't make the company the fastest to update its devices. Despite a roadmap shared with users last year, some of the phones slated for Android 11 still haven't received new software versions. To better reflect when updates might actually be ready, Nokia has expanded its roadmap up to Q3 and added a couple of new devices onto its list.
The Nokia 4.2 has dropped to just $120 on Amazon ($39 off)
It may be cheap, but it still has Android 10
HMD Global's Nokia-branded devices are some of the best budget phones currently available, with relatively-fast updates and no heavy modifications to Android. Now you can get the entry-level Nokia 4.2 for just $130 on Amazon, a savings of $29 from the usual price of around $159.The Nokia 4.2 has a Snapdragon 439 processor, 3GB of RAM, a 5.7-inch 720x1520 display, 32GB of internal storage (with a microSD card slot for expansion), a 3,000mAh battery, NFC support, and even a headphone jack. The main downsides are that it uses a microUSB port instead of Type-C, and performance isn't amazing. You can read our full review here.
Google's been working on a call recording feature for its Phone app for some time, and it looks like the wait is almost over. As previously anticipated, the feature has started rolling out in India, seemingly beginning with Nokia's Android One phones, according to an announcement from the company today.

Deals abound this holiday season, so here's another one for the pile. Nokia's budget 4.2 smartphone has dropped to $159 on both Amazon and B&H, a nice savings of $30 off the MSRP. For starters, if you're looking for more info on the 4.2, then be sure to check out Scott's review right here. Unfortunately for this little phone, it suffers from performance problems, a poor-quality display, a laggy camera, and sub-par battery life. For perspective, however, it packs a 5.71" 720x1520 TFT LCD display, a Snapdragon 439 SoC, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a 13MP+2MP rear camera setup, and a 3,000mAh battery. As you can see from the screenshot above, it only works on the GSM carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile.While it may not be the best phone around, for $159, it'd make for a decent backup device or a starter smartphone. With the introduction of Plus models and decimals, HMD Global’s range of Nokia phones has taken on a somewhat bloated and hard to decipher form, far from the essential selection of handsets across various price points it started out as. With each new release, it gets harder for consumers to decide which budget phone in the burgeoning lineup is worth the money, which was no more apparent than when the Finnish company announced the Nokia 1 Plus, 3.2, and 4.2 at MWC back in February. The 4.2 appeared to be the most appealing of the bunch, and it went on sale in the US for $189 last month.
Nokia unveiled a few new devices at Mobile World Congress 2019 including the somewhat disappointing Nokia 9 PureView. It also had a few budget offerings that got less press, including the Nokia 4.2. That phone is now available for pre-order in the US for a mere $189.The Nokia 4.2 packs a Snapdragon 439, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage. Up front, it has a 5.7-inch 1080p LCD with a small notch at the top. However, there's nothing small about the chin at the bottom—it's a real chonker. On the back, you get a dual 13+2MP camera setup and a fingerprint sensor. One notable bummer: it's microUSB instead of Type-C.The 4.2 is an Android One phone with Pie, just like all Nokia's other recent releases. That means two years of full update support and another year of security patches. You can pre-order the 4.2 from Amazon or Best Buy (listing not yet live) with the expectation that it'll ship on May 14th.Buy: Amazon
Last year, LG teamed up with Google to bring a Bixby-style Assistant hardware button to some of its phones. Turns out that collaboration was just the start. Today, Google is announcing that this partnership is extending to "the full portfolio" of new devices from LG and Nokia, as well as select handsets by Xiaomi, Vivo, and TCL (read: Alcatel, Palm, and BlackBerry).
The five-camera Nokia 9 PureView may be grabbing all the spotlight at HMD's MWC 2019 event, but it's far from the only new model making its debut. In addition to that camera-powerhouse flagship, we're also getting a handful of new affordably priced models, as the Nokia 4.2, Nokia 3.2, and Nokia 1 Plus all premiere alongside it.
