In exactly a week, on June 23rd, the 4 giants of the Android world - Motorola, Verizon, Google, and Adobe are set to announce something really great, dubbed "the next generation of Droid" at a special invitation-only press event in New York.
We can only guess what the event will touch on - surely, Droid X and Droid 2 are at the top of the list.
However, noting the presence of Adobe, it makes us wonder whether something much-much bigger is coming, i.e. Read More
This is certainly one of the worst kept mobile secrets in a while. It seems we can barely go more than a few days without more Droid X/Xtreme/Shadow or Droid 2 pictures leaking. In this case, it seems Mr. Blurrcam is on vacation and let his high resolution counterpart take a few more pictures of the Droid X.
There’s not a whole lot of new information at this point, but that’s to be expected considering the rate at which we’ve been seeing leaks. Read More
With details of the Motorola Droid 2 starting to find their way into the outside world, we now have photos and specifications of the new device, thanks to Droid Life!
Aesthetically, it doesn’t look like much has changed from the original Droid that we all know and love. The exterior remains mostly the same apart from the slide out keyboard, which is the only part of the device that appears to be significantly different. Read More
If you thought that the 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon chip used in the Nexus One and EVO 4G was fast, try this on for size!
Speaking at the Executives Club of Chicago yesterday, Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha discussed the company’s plans to release a smartphone with a 2GHz processor before the end of the year.
Although Jha didn’t go into specific details about Motorola’s plans, it’s certainly exciting to hear about the rapid pace of development in the smartphone market, especially whilst it’s still in its infancy. Read More
This may have not been the biggest cell phone announcement of the day, but Motorola has officially unveiled the Motorola Milestone XT720, a Europe-bound phone that looks like, but apparently isn’t, a Motorola Motoroi.
According to Engadget, this phone is a ‘sister phone’ of the Motorola Motoroi, an Android phone that launched in Korea earlier this year. The specs are similar, though I’ve been reading conflicting reports on what exactly the Milestone XT720 is packing. Read More
My Droid World is on a roll! Yesterday they brought us a working Froyo update for Motorola Droid but it came with a serious omission - WiFi was not included.
After taking a breather, a few hours later they produced another version, this time with support for WiFi and overclocking.
There are a number of download options, varying in the CPU frequency hardcoded into the kernel - from 800 MHz to 1250 MHz, so grab the one you want and see if it's stable enough (I promise you - it will be FAST). Read More
It seems like almost every other day something new is leaked about the upcoming Droid Xtreme. This is fairly typical of any anticipated phone release so, while nothing new, it can get a bit confusing with so many sites reporting on every single leak regarding this phone. Here is a rundown of everything that is Motorola Shadow/Xtreme…
This phone was originally dubbed the Droid 2 before progressing into its second name, the Droid Shadow. Read More
Nexus One users had their taste of Froyo already (check out what Froyo is all about for more info) and now Motorola Droid owners can get a piece of the pie too, courtesy of My Droid World!
Unfortunately, the update comes at a price, as there’s no Wi-Fi support in the current build. The reason for this is because the original kernel has been replaced to protect the identity of the source. Read More
I wasn’t too kind to the Flipout when we first covered it here, and I can’t say that the official announcement has done much to change my mind.
If it weren’t for the strange form factor (why can’t Motorola just stick to what we know works?), the phone would be another mid to low-range Android handset. For those of you in the States that think it’s hip to be square (see what I did there?), Read More
Another week another leak – we’re visited once again by our old friend the Droid Shadow (AKA: Droid Xtreme/Droid X), this time with two new pictures and few tidbits about the phone’s software.
In case you’re out of the loop, the Droid Shadow is said to be Motorola’s latest addition to Verizon’s Droid brand, which we’ve covered here and here (note that I incorrectly referred to the Shadow as the Droid 2 – from what I’ve read since, this is not the case). Read More
