Sure, you have your Pebbles and your Galaxy Gears, not to mention your various Kickstarter-funded competitors that promise even more functionality. But how much work do you really intend to do from your wrist? If all you want is a fitness tracker that plays back music and can also tell the time, then Motorola's MOTOACTV smartwatch might be all you need, and today it's available from Woot for just 9.99, over half off its usual price.

If you're intrigued by the idea of wearable technology, but don't see the Pebble's appeal, or don't have the patience to wait for Google Glass or any of the other rumored wearable goodies coming from Apple, Samsung, or Google (depending on who you ask), Motorola's MOTOACTV, the fitness-tracking smartwatch, may be a good starting point.

Motorola has released a pair of updates for the MOTOACTV Android-based sports watch. The last round of updates came in March with new features for golfers. The new updates, versions 6.12 and 6.13, come with most of the same features, but there is a confusing split based on whether or not your device already has the golf features included.

Last week, Motorola announced a separate Golf edition of the MOTOACTV fitness tracker, due to start shipping the first week of April. The good news is that as of today, existing non-Golf MOTOACTVs are receiving the same software through an upgrade with version 6.5 6.6, available via MOTOCAST. Update 4/2/12: Motorola pulled the 6.5 update and released 6.6 a few days later (today) instead. I am willing to bet 6.5 had some last-minute bugs.
