LineageOS is the most popular custom ROM around, as it has extended the life of many phones and tablets that would have otherwise been abandoned. Even for phones still receiving software updates from the original manufacturer, Lineage can sometimes work better than the stock software, and it's a popular option for 'de-Googling' Android devices. Since our last roundup, several more phones have been added to the official Android 10 build roster (and a few have been removed).
The non-Plus model of the Moto G5 was never released in the US, but for those of you overseas who have one, here's some good news. The Android 8.1 Oreo-based kernel source code for the Moto G5, codenamed 'cedric,' has now been published on GitHub, meaning that developers can start cooking.
If you’re planning to buy one of Motorola’s newest handsets, you should be aware that you won’t get lengthy software support. Motorola is promising just one major Android upgrade for the new Moto G6 series, while the Moto E5 series may not get a major update at all.

The technically inclined can also take a look at the patch made here, and these changes are now included in TWRP builds for the devices going forward.
These days, TWRP is virtually the only custom recovery for Android devices on the market, so it's a relief that it's actually good. It also covers an incredibly large amount of devices, with more constantly being added. This time around, alpha versions have come on the scene for Google's two new smartphones, as well as stable versions for a few others.
