, LG made available the V21y update for owners of the G2x. Users were delighted - though the update wasn't major, it did seem to bring some notable additions, according to this unofficial changelog:
Yesterday, we took a look at Riptide GP for Tegra devices with the addition of controller support. To celebrate the update and all the fun that adding a controller to your Tegra tablet can bring, we've once again teamed up with NVIDIA to bring our most massive giveaway yet: The Riptide Gaming Power Pack.
With the launch of the 404 page design contest a few weeks ago, we wanted to achieve 2 goals:
Here Are The 20 Best "404 Page Not Found" Contest Design Entries - Vote For Your Favorites
Taking a break from our regular social giveaways, last week we announced a creative contest to see which one of our readers can come up with the most creative 404 Page Not Found page for the site and in exchange win a brand new T-Mobile G2x Tegra-powered phone from NVIDIA.
One of the hottest phones on T-Mobile, the G2x, has just become subject to one of the best deals that I've ever seen. For the next three days you can score this dual-core beast for absolutely free (after $50 mail-in-rebate) with a two-year agreement directly from T-Mo.
In an "lolwut" moment, LG announced via their forums today that Gingerbread for the G2x would come "by summer".... and then the update landed approximately an hour later.
We often report on things that only affect us here in the US, but other areas of the world aren't out of our realm of coverage, either. Thanks to a tipster, we have reason to believe that the Gingerbread update for the Scandinavian variant of the LG G2x/Optimus 2X/LGP990 has been delayed from Summer to Fall of 2011 - if the Swedish LG site is correct, that is.
So, you bought that fancy new Nexus S/DROID Charge/Galaxy S II/G2X/Flyer with a front-facing camera, and you were excited to make video calls. Then you noticed there isn't any native video chat client for Android (yet - Talk will have this integrated soon). Then you heard about fring, which is pretty cool. Then you tried to install it, only to discover it didn't work. Then you probably had a sad.
Earlier this month, we got a hold of a Gingerbread leak for the LG G2x, and all seemed pretty official with that build, so we expected to see an official announcement fairly soon after. It's been a few weeks now, and while nothing concrete has surfaced from T-Mo, we now have a little more info on what's gong down:
On Monday, we teased you guys with an early look at Gingerbread running on the G2x from This Is My Next. There was some definitely some disappointment in the air when you realized that a download wasn't available at that time, but that all changes now.
The LG G2x is showing up all over the place today, isn't it? This time it's joined by its cousin, the Optimus 2X, as they are both graced with the custom ROM goodness of CyanogenMod. Be warned, though - these are only nightly builds so they are not yet polished, final versions of CM7. They are however, official CyanogenMod builds from TeamDouche, not ported versions from other developers.
A couple of weeks ago we told you how to get the G2x for $50 from CellHub (it jumped up to $100 shortly after we posted the article). If you still want to score a G2x for less than $100, but don't want to order from a vendor that you've never heard of, then you're in luck. Today only, RadioShack.com is offering the G2x for $99 with any qualifying contract. That's right, it doesn't have to be a new contract like most deals - The Shack wants to give this hook up to anyone that is eligible for upgrade.
What's this that I have stumbled across this morning? It's none other than some pictures and video footage from This Is My Next of the T-Mobile LG G2x running Gingerbread! No, not a rooted, AOSP version of Gingerbread - it looks to be an official build.
We told you about Samsung dropping the source for the Sidekick 4G this morning, and now it's LG's turn to release some code. The lucky winner is... the G2x. That's right, this awesome new beast-of-a-phone has already received ClockwordMod Recovery and now it's about to get even better - as soon as devs get ahold of the source and start cooking up some homebrew Android goodness (CyanogenMod, anyone?).
Remember the T-Mobile G2x that came out just two days ago? Well, it looks like the folks over at CellHub are offering an unbelievable deal on this brand new Tegra2 powered device: with a new two-year agreement, you can score this beauty for just .
That's right, less than 24 hours after its release, the LG G2x has received a test version of ClockworkMod recovery, thanks to Android developer @ChrisSoyars. Do note that as this is an initial release, it may still have a few bugs, but everything seems to be working exactly as it should.
The LG G2x, the first dual-core Android phone on T-Mobile, is officially available at all retail channels starting today, April 20th. While you can go pick it up at T-Mobile for 9.99 after an instant discount and a mail-in rebate (plus a nice kickback to Uncle Sam), you could instead head over to Amazon, where the G2x page just went live, ready to be delivered to your abode via free 2-day shipping.
, the LG Optimus 2X is finally available in the States courtesy of T-Mobile, who is dubbing it the T-Mobile G2x. At $250 less a $50 mail-in-rebate, the phone is largely in-line with the pricing for other flagship devices, and with all that horsepower inside, seems fairly reasonable.
2 of T-Mobile's most exciting devices that are arriving this month, the dual-core LG G2x and the Samsung Sidekick 4G, have just gone live on Wirefly's pre-order site. Wirefly, one of the largest online mobile retailers, is sweetening the deal on the G2x by $50 compared to MSRP and on the Sidekick 4G (pick black or pink) by $20.
