[Deal Alert] HTC's Black Friday deals offer $50 off HTC U11 with $200 JBL earphones thrown in, $5 cases, more

Black Friday week month is in full swing now and HTC just launched its deals for the next days. They started at 12am Easter time today, November 21, and will last until 12am Eastern time, November 29.

Unfortunately, most of the deals are quite underwhelming, and HTC's "Blackest Friday" slogan is taking a different meaning as I look at the numbers. There's no discount on the new U11+, only a small freebie thrown in with the new U11 Life. The most interesting discount is on the regular, but now a little older, U11 which is seeing $50 off and a $200 JBL Reflect Aware USB-C headphone thrown in.

The U11, HTC's second flagship phone of 2017, stands out from the crowd with its squeezable frame. [Update: HTC Alexa app released for the U11, enables hands free or Edge Sense activation] HTC U11 Edge Sense now updated to include Alexa integration, but it's not working yet

The HTC U11 is a pretty good phone, but it has one particularly divisive feature: Edge Sense. Squeezing the frame of the device can activate various software features, most notably a personal assistant (a feature the next generation Pixel XL is apparently set to borrow). When it was announced by HTC, the U11 was supposed to have a choice of three assistants, including the company's own HTC Companion, Google Assistant, and Amazon Alexa. The last of those didn't make it in time for launch, but it appears to be included in the latest update to Edge Sense.

HTC's latest flagship, the U11, isn't really a bad phone. It has some issues, notably light bleed on the display and no headphone jack, but it's a much better phone than the U Ultra.
