Pixel 4's Live HDR+ and Dual Exposure Control won't come to Pixel 3 and 3a

The Pixel 4 has some impressive new camera tricks up its sleeve, such as live HDR+ previews and Dual Exposure Controls, that should help you shoot even more stunning images than you could with its predecessors. Even though these features seem like they must be purely software-related, apparently they aren't. That's why they won't come to the older Pixels, as Google has just stated on Twitter.

Pixel 4 Motion Sense demos show it in action across apps, and even when the phone is locked

With Pixel 4 units in hundreds of hands, we've seen divisive reports about its new Soli radar technology and Motion Sense. Our own Ryne and Scott say it works more or less for them, but they fail to see its utility just yet, while Marques Brownlee showed how unreliable it is for him (YouTube). Here's an unexpected opinion though: Artem loves it and it works very well for him.

Google explains why it doesn't support 4K video recording at 60fps on Pixels

Despite the Pixel 4's multitude of new camera chops, you can still reproach it for a few missing features. It lacks a wide-angle camera, it doesn't have autofocus on the front cam, and Google still limits 4K video capture to 30fps. The company has clarified the reasoning behind the latter.

Some Pixel 4 units are being shipped earlier than expected

After months and months of leaks, anyone excited about the Pixel 4 was finally able to pre-order it last week. Google's making it stupidly difficult to access the new Assistant if you use a G Suite account

That gesture navigation prerequisite won't be the only issue preventing some folks from using the next-gen Google Assistant on the Pixel 4. Turns out, it also won't work on the device if you are signed into a G Suite account — not just as your primary account, but at all. That means those of us using a G Suite account on the side for school or the day job will have to use a separate work profile as a workaround for now, though Google tells us it is actively working on a fix.

Pixel 4 hands-on: Remember what they say about pre-orders

A lot is riding on Google's Pixel 4. [Update: Nor Verizon] T-Mobile Pixel 4 and 4 XL won't support RCS at launch

Google's been making a push for platform-agnostic RCS messaging for some time now, but carriers haven't always been the most cooperative partners. That apparently continues to be the case, as a T-Mobile representative has confirmed that Pixel 4 devices purchased from the carrier won't support the standard at launch.

[Update 2x: Original story correct] The new Google Assistant only works with gesture navigation

The Pixel 4 and 4 XL have been revealed this Tuesday, and they'll bring a faster and more powerful Google Assistant along. It should understand you better with the help of local speech processing and you won't need to keep saying "OK Google" over and over again. However, if you're a fan of the good ol' three-button navigation, you'll be left out in the cold. According to a Google support document, the new Assistant requires gesture navigation to work.

[Update: It works] Headed South is a Motion Sense game for Pixel 4 from Monument Valley's creators [APK Download]

The award-winning Ustwo Studios is well known for the hit Escher-inspired game Monument Valley, and now Google has enlisted the developer to help show off the Pixel 4's new Motion Sense quick gestures. In Headed South, you play as a bird trying to flock with others while flying through brightly-colored worlds. There's only one problem I've found so far: it doesn't work.
