New Google Camera PX mod lets you force astro and light painting modes, brings tons of tweaks [APK Download]

The features that owners of older-gen Pixels miss out on the most are those related to photography. Many Google Camera mods help alleviate that new-Pixel envy by bringing some exclusive options to previous-gen Pixels. We've already covered cstark27's mod, which was based on Camera 7.2.010, but now the dev is back with another team and a more recent version based on Camera 7.2.014. Don't let the minor number change fool you, though, this is a pretty major revamp with lots of goodies in tow.

Google's bug bounty rewards help it keep its services and products and thus its customers and users secure, so the company is always looking to expand the scope of those initiatives. After it already increased the payout of the Play Store and Chrome security bug-finding programs earlier this year, it has now decided to expand the Android Security Rewards and raise the maximum award.

(Update: Live, APK) Top Shot will be available for short videos on the Pixel 4, 3, and 3a

Launched with the Pixel 3, Top Shot is an AI feature that smartly recommends saving a better photo than the one you snapped. Until now, Top Shot required you to have Motion Photos enabled, to save the brief moments before and after the pic was taken and be able to get a different photo if needed. The feature will soon be enabled for short videos too and it'll be available on the Pixel 4, 3, and 3a.

Some Pixel 3 units are exhibiting Nexus 6P-like early shutdown problems

Google can't seem to catch a break: Just after covering earlier today that it finally "fixed" the early shutdown issues on the Nexus 6P, we've now spotted reports of a more recent flagship series showing similar symptoms. Pixel phones can now vibrate before ramping up the volume

Starting this month, Pixel owners will gain an additional sound option that controls how their phones behave when a call comes in. Awkwardly referred by Google as the ramping ringer feature, it lets the phone vibrate for a few seconds first before the ringtone volume goes up in an increasingly louder fashion.

The Pixel 4 isn't quite a runaway success, especially the smaller version with its limited battery capacity. If you were holding out for an upgrade, last year's Pixel 3 is still a solid choice, especially now that it's on sale for one of the lowest prices we've seen yet.

How to enable Rules on Android 10 with root

Before Android 10's official release, an automation feature called "Rules" was discovered during the beta phase that many hoped would make its way into the final build of the OS. Although it didn't appear as feature-rich as Tasker, it seemed like a good starting point for Google to build on. After being absent for a while, the Rules feature began popping up for certain Android 10 Pixel users as a server-side update. If you'd rather not wait for Google to activate the feature for you, there is a short and simple method available now, assuming you have a rooted Pixel phone running Android 10.

Tip: Double tap the Live Caption overlay to see more lines of text

Live Caption is one of the most interesting features introduced on the Pixel 4, and it's great that it's coming to the Pixel 3 and 3a line, as well. By default, it only shows you two lines of live-transcribed text, which might be enough in most circumstances. But if you ever need to see more context, you can double tap the overlay to make it display eight lines of text.
