Google & Logitech Bringing Android To The Livingroom

Google & Logitech Bringing Android To The Livingroom

During Google I/O, Google announced Google TV. Yesterday, the Logitech Revue – the first Google TV box – passed FCC approval, and as usual, the FCC was kind enough to provide some pictures of the unit.

The unit sports some pretty decent specs:

  • Android 2.1
  • 1.2 Ghz Atom CPU
  • 4 GB Memory
  • 2x HDMI 1.3
  • 2x USB
  • S/PDIF out
  • Ethernet (presumably 10/100/1000)
  • IR headers
  • 802.11n

The Revue plays nice with Logitech Harmony remotes and acts as a WiFi access point for your entertainment devices.

According To Google CEO Eric Schmidt, There Will Be No Nexus Two

It seems the question of whether Google will be staying in the business of designing flagship Android phones has been definitively answered, and by none other than the man in charge: Google CEO Eric Schmidt. While there has been speculation for some time that a Nexus Two may never happen, Eric Schmidt has effectively confirmed that this is the case…(emphasis ours)

Initially, Google felt that they needed to build a device to help Android along so they worked with HTC to create the Nexus One handset.

image_thumb1681Another week, another Google update for the Nexus One, both for users already running Froyo and unrooted Eclair on both AT&T and T-Mobile!

I’ve installed the update from FRF83 (500K) on my own Nexus One, and installation was smooth, as always.

It is unknown what the update brings and whether it will be the last one before we see the final official Eclair>Froyo update.

Download

You can download the update here if you didn't get the OTA yet:

  • T-Mobile Nexus One: FRF83 > FRF85B (500KB)
  • AT&T Nexus One: EPE54B > FRF85B (46.5MB) - this will update your stock unrooted Eclair 2.1 AT&T Nexus One to Froyo!

Droid X's Sexy Software Keyboard Ripped Out, Now Available For All Phones

Earlier today we reported that the Droid X internals were leaked out and provided to developers to play with. It didn't take long at all - Droid X's software keyboard is already available for everyone to download.

This keyboard should work for any Android phone running 2.1 Eclair (it reportedly force closes for most on Froyo). It looks very clean, mostly due to the absence of most non-alphanumeric characters which can be accessed using a familiar looking button on the bottom left.
