Google TV To Be Added To The Next Update of The Android SDK; Developers, Start Your Engines!

Google TV users will be happy to know that support for the platform is finally coming soon to the Android SDK. This will allow developers to unleash their apps on all Google TVs on the market, which in turn could help manufacturers eventually push more units given the renewed interest.

Since the Google TV Market announcement at Google I/O, the platform has had a lot of road bumps in both TV network and user adoption.

Last month, Google made several improvements to its mobile search page for phones, and now the page designed for tablets has received a similar makeover. The updated homepage brings some subtle, yet intuitive changes to the tablet interface, including enlarged text, buttons, and other touch targets, so browsing is a much more comfortable experience.

Gmail For Android Updated To V2.3.5 - Selective Mail Sync And Label Notifications, Sticky "Show Pictures" Settings (Finally!), Attachment Downloads, And More

Gmail For Android Updated To V2.3.5 - Selective Mail Sync And Label Notifications, Sticky "Show Pictures" Settings (Finally!), Attachment Downloads, And More

Gmail for Android hasn't received much love lately, but Google definitely hasn't forgotten about it. The new version 2.3.5 (curiously, it matches the latest Gingerbread release version), which showed up tonight, brings a host of new features, including one that I was *just* thinking of yesterday after clicking the "Show Pictures" button for the 1800th time.

The new features are:

  1. Save bandwidth and battery by only syncing priority mail
  2. Use label notifications to mash up filters, labels, and ringtones
  3. Remember ‘Show Pictures’ for senders
  4. Turn off sticky message actions in landscape or all orientations
  5. Better TalkBalk support for accessibility
  6. Performance improvements

As I mentioned, my favorite is definitely the sticky "Show Pictures" setting, which means I won't have to click the annoying button in every email that I receive from all the deals sites on a daily basis.

Logitech Revue Set To Drop To $99, Poor Sales Are To Thank

Logitech recently released its Q1 earnings for fiscal year 2012, and lets just say that the company has seen better days. Sales are continuing to decline, and the company is facing a $34 million charge due to an upcoming price reduction of its Google TV box, the Revue. In order to promote interest in the device, Logitech will be dropping the price from an outrageous $249 down to a more reasonable $99, putting it in the same ballpark with Apple TV and Roku TV.

If so you answered 'yes' to that, then here's your chance, because both Amazon Wireless and Best Buy online are giving this phone away as long as you put your signature on the dotted line saying that you'll be loyal to Sprint for the next two years.

I know, I know. The last one was under $50, and preferably free. But in our attempt to keep you updated with the latest and greatest deals on the latest and greatest devices, we had to make sacrifices. Fortunately, that means there are also no repeat appearances from last month's post, though you should still check it out - a lot of those handsets (aside from the DROID 2) are still viable choices.
