Google took the somewhat unprecedented step of lowering the price of the Nexus 6 in the Google Store earlier today. It rarely put things on sale when hardware was in the Play Store. Now Amazon has followed suit and matched the new price. The company is now asking $499.99 for the 32GB Nexus 6 and $549 for the 64GB.

[Deal Alert] Google Drops Price Of Nexus 6 On Play Store By $150, Offers Nexus 9 With $50 Play Store Gift Card

If you're on the fence about a Nexus 6 or Nexus 9, Google's got a deal going this morning for both devices, though of different types. The Nexus 6 is $150 off on all models, bringing the 32GB version down to $499 and the 64GB to $549. The deal doesn't have a stated expiration, but "save $150" does seem to imply it's probably temporary, as part of a larger father's day promo.

Google Is Apparently Giving Project Fi Customers Who Also Ordered A Nexus 6 Welcome Kits Containing Cases, Earbuds, And External Batteries

You have two options when you sign up for Project Fi. You can buy a SIM card with a new Nexus 6. Or you can just buy the SIM card and stick it in your own Nexus 6. Want to use another phone? You can, as long as you tether it to a Nexus 6. A Project Fi SIM has to go into a Nexus 6.

For the time being, that eliminates a sizable chunk of interested consumers.

[Download] Android "M" Developer Preview Images Are Live Now For Nexus 5, 6, 9, And Player

Android "M" preview images for Nexus 5, 6, 9, and Player are now live. Here are the direct download links.

If you run into problems during flashing like the dreaded "missing system.img" error, check out our article with instructions for doing a "dirty" flash (piece by piece) here.

Google has also announced that the "M" preview will be updated more regularly than L's, and specifically that updates will be issued over the air - no need to flash updates yourself. That will be very nice indeed.

[Update: Factory Image And OTA Links] As Indicated, Android Build LMY47Z Is Now Heading To Nexus 6 Phones On Sprint

Got a Nexus 6? Are you using it on Sprint? Then don't be surprised if you see an over-the-air update come sometime in the next few days. Sprint's support site had officially listed build LMY47Z, indicating that it's either going out to Nexus 6 owners now or will be in the very near future. The existence of this particular build was leaked last week.


Don't get too excited. According to the documents the update contains "general updates to Android" and "security enhancements."

Here's The Factory Image For T-Mobile's Nexus 6 Android 5.1.1 Update (LYZ28E) With Wi-Fi Calling


[Update: OTA URL] The Nexus 6's Android 5.1.1 OTA Is Rolling Out Now On T-Mobile (Build LYZ28E)

We suspected it was going to be released this weekend and here it is, the Android 5.1.1 OTA is starting to roll out to some T-Mobile users. The update's approval was confirmed by the operator's product evangelist Des on Twitter and Google+ a few hours ago and it has appeared on T-Mobile's product support pages.

The OTA brings the Nexus 6 from build number LMY47M to LYZ28E, it should be around 125MB in size and have T-Mobile WiFi calling on board as well as all the bug fixes and improvements that come with Android 5.1.1.

As Des mentions, the OTA won't appear for everyone just yet, it's on a staged roll-out with a few customers getting it this weekend then ramping up over the next couple of weeks.

Sprint Internal Doc Says Android 5.1.1 (Build LMY47Z) Is Coming To The Nexus 6 On May 26th

The Nexus 6 is the first Nexus phone to have an official home on all four big US carriers. That means there are bound to be some carrier-specific updates, even for a Nexus phone. T-Mobile recently hinted that 5.1.1 was on the way with WiFi calling, and now we've got a leak from Sprint that says 5.1.1 (LMY47Z) will be out on May 26th.

Nexus 6 Android 5.1.1 Update With T-Mobile Wi-Fi Calling Should Hopefully Roll Out This Weekend

Android 5.1.1 is working its way through Google's lengthy list of Nexus devices. After coming to Wi-Fi tablets first, this week we saw it start to hit cellular devices like the Nexus 5, N4, and N9 LTE. As you may have noticed, Google's latest smartphone didn't make the list. With any luck, the Nexus 6 will get an over-the-air update sometime this weekend.
