Google and Netflix collaborate on Lost in Space game for Google Home

As well as having tons of practical uses, Google Home also offers plenty of fun little distractions. You can ask the Assistant to tell you jokes or facts, and even play games with it. Tie-ins were inevitable, and Google joined forces with Netflix for a Stranger Things game last year, in which you could chat with Dustin on his trusty walkie-talkie. Lost in Space is Netflix's latest hit show, and there's a new Google Home game to go with it.

[Update: Try Premium+, just 99p for 3 months] Deezer is now available on Google Home devices in the UK

At I/O in May 2017, Google announced some new compatibility for playing music on Google Home which included the subscription service Deezer. Users in Germany and France have been able to link their Deezer accounts and request music via the Google Assistant since August last year, but until now the same functionality has been missing in the UK.

As of today, users with a Premium+ subscription (costing £9.99) can add Deezer to their list of music services accessible by their Google Home device. It can also be set as the default music app, so any general requests to the Assistant for songs, albums, and artists will automatically go through Deezer.

The signs have been popping here and there and everywhere and now it's finally official: Google is bringing its smart speaker duo, the Home and Home Mini, to India. But before you get ahead of yourself and jump in excitement, you may want to do a double check on the prices: Rs 9,999 for the larger Home (approx. $154) and 4,499 (approx. $69). As always, prices outside the US are higher, and the sting is even more palpable in this case when the Home is over a year old and has been discounted to around $80 a few times and the Mini to $29 in the US.

Mid-range Pixel for developing markets could land this summer (joined in India by Home, Nest stuff, practically everything Google sells)

Whether you're selling phones or powering the platforms behind them, there's little that's more exciting for a company seeking out growth opportunities than a rapidly expanding market. As other markets around the globe see slumping projections or sales threatening to plateau, India's doing gangbusters, and last year sales of smartphones were up 14 percent. This growth hasn't gone unnoticed, and today we're checking out some signs of Google's increasing interest in India, including rumors of a possible new Pixel phone targeting India and other “price-sensitive” markets.

You can now set location-based reminders from Google Home

Remember how long it took Google to make reminders work on Google Home? I won't bore you by recounting the whole sage, but the wait was substantial. At least adding new reminder features isn't taking too long. We heard some weeks back about location-based reminders in Assistant for phones, but the Home release was "in the coming weeks." For once, Google actually meant "in the coming weeks." It's live right now on a Home near you.
