Those of you who decided to unlock the bootloader of your ASUS Transformer Pad 300 were likely pretty bummed when the 4.2.1 update started rolling out earlier this month (I know I was) since ASUS decided that unlocked devices shouldn't get OTAs. Thankfully, the company just uploaded the full ROM to its site for your flashing pleasure.
It's been over four months since Google officially announced Android 4.2 and slightly less time since the initial round of new Nexus devices running it went up for order. Much like the gunshot that kicks off the 100-meter tortoise race, that launch signaled the silent contest to see which manufacturer could get out a non-Nexus update first. A new update for Asus' middle-range Android tablet is rolling out at this very moment. Users on XDA are reporting getting the update notification, but it appears to be a little fickle with rooted devices. The abbreviated changelog claims this is a simple stability enhancement.
ASUS, a company that has made a name for itself in the Android community by providing fast updates and prompt firmware releases for its devices, has now made available the kernel source code and latest firmware build (9.4.4.49) for the LTE version of the Transformer Pad (TF300TL).
A bit less than two weeks ago, the TF300 became the first non-Nexus ASUS tablet to receive an update to Jelly Bean, starting with the U.S. Several days later, ASUS posted the full Jelly Bean ROM v10.4.2.9, though only for U.S. variants, and almost immediately started the OTA rollout in Europe.

Ever since unlocking the bootloader and rooting my Transformer Pad 300 (TF300), I've been patiently waiting for the Cyanogenmod team to release a build specifically for it. Since they already support the TF101 (original Transformer) and TF201 (Transformer Prime), I assumed it was only a matter of time before a build showed up for the TF300 - turns out I was right, as that build just hit the CM download site this morning.
