Archos 80/101 G9 And 101XS Receiving Updates To 4.0.28 And 4.1.2 Respectively
Archos may not be the biggest dog on the block, but it does do a good job of supporting the hardware it releases. It's currently sending OTA updates to its 80/101 G9 and the 101XD tablets, which mostly just bring some minor bug fixes to the devices.
Archos is sending an OTA update to its 80/101 G9 and 101XS tablets right now that brings several enhancements to the devices, including some media and video playback features, improved display outputs, and more. The update for the 80/101 G9 also brings some fixes for units containing HDDs, and the 101XS is getting a device-specific tweak to the keyboard.
If you own either of Archos' G9 series tablets (the 80 or 101), then an OTA should be coming your way. The update brings version 4.0.24, and includes not only a bump up to Android 4.0.4, but several enhancements and fixes, most of which deal with the Media Center:

Archos may not make the most headlines for its series of mid-range tablets, but occasionally, one of them deserves a mention. The Archos 101 G9 is a strong contender for your money if you're on a tight budget. The savants among you may want to hold off for a Galaxy Note 10.1, or whatever Google is cooking up for its tablet line. Still, with prices starting at $270 for the 8" 8GB version to $330 for the 10" 8GB version, it's difficult to ignore. Oh, and did I mention it runs stock Ice Cream Sandwich?
Those who have been waiting for ARCHOS' 1.5GHz variants of the G9 series of tablets are in luck – both tablets' "turbo versions" are now shipping from the manufacturer's web store.
Looks like Ice Cream Sandwich update are going to start rolling out in force now. Just this morning we told you that HTC is pushing Android 4.0 to the Sensation/XE, and now Archos has announced that it will be making available ICS to its G9 tablets beginning today.

Remember the 1.5GHz powerhouse G9 tablets that were officially announced last week by ARCHOS? Yeah, the ones with staggering release dates ranging from September 20th to sometime in October. Need a refresher? Okay - here's the quick and dirty edition:
When ARCHOS first announced its upcoming Android 3.2-powered G9 tablets back in June, we were surprised at the amount of raw power tucked away under the chassis of the duo. A bit has changed since then in way of both price and hardware spec -- but it's still not a huge deviation from the original announcement.
When it comes to Android tablets, we've become accustomed to seeing near-identical specs for each one: 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16/32GB of storage. While those specs are still pretty awesome, Archos is looking to change the game completely with its newly announced 80 G9 and 101 G9 tablets. If you haven't already guessed, the biggest difference between the two tabs is the screen size, with the former offering 8 inches at 1024x768, and the latter with the more common 10.1-inch 1280x800 display.
