It's Official: LG Revolution Hits Verizon Stores May 26, Packs LTE, Bing, And Froyo For $250 With Contract

Official word just came our way from Verizon that the LG Revolution will be available at Verizon beginning tomorrow. Let's be honest: the Revolution is not an exciting device, and as with the Charge, is probably overpriced for what it is. But then again, it's not as though the Revolution is sub-par, either:

  • 1GHz Snapdragon processor
  • Verizon LTE
  • Android 2.2 (ಠ_ಠ)
  • 4.3" 480x800 display
  • Bing (ಠ_ಠ)
  • 5.0MP camera with flash (rear), 1.3MP (front)
  • 720p video recording
  • 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi
  • 16GB microSD card preinstalled

Aside from the LTE, some fairly average specs by today's standards.

Sprint And Motorola Unveil Two New Blackberry Style Devices For Business Users: XPRT And Titanium

If you were a billion dollar company that had a smartphone design laying around that didn't do so well, what would you do with it? Motorola's going with "rebrand it and release it on a different network" with the "new" XPRT that's set to hit Sprint in June. The global-ready XPRT is basically a rebranded DROID Pro, as it has near identical specs:

motoxprt-lg1

  • 1GHz Processor
  • Global Ready
  • Mobile Hotspot with support for up to 5 devices

Samsung Galaxy S II Invading The UK On May 1, Bringing 1.2GHz Of Firepower With It

Samsung Galaxy S II Invading The UK On May 1, Bringing 1.2GHz Of Firepower With It

In a press release sent out this morning, Samsung has announced that the Galaxy S II will be hitting UK shelves on May 1 - and that it will be targeting all major networks and retailers. The flagship of Samsung's Mobile Division has had its armament upped prior to release, cranking the device's dual-core Exynos processor to an impressive 1.2GHz.

We got to spend a little time with the Galaxy S II at CTIA last month, and the device's slim proportions (8.49mm thick) and light weight were difficult to believe in light of its dual-core status - it's a stealth fighter among jumbo jets like the ATRIX or BIONIC.

T-Mobile's First Dual-Core Phone, The G2x Made By LG, Now Official Ahead Of CTIA - Coming This Spring

T-Mobile's First Dual-Core Phone, The G2x Made By LG, Now Official Ahead Of CTIA - Coming This Spring

While AT&T and Verizon both announced dual-core devices at CES (Atrix 4G and Droid Bionic, respectively), T-Mobile and Sprint have been quiet about their offerings. It was only through accidental leaks that we found out about the LG Optimus 2X, rebranded as T-Mobile G2x, coming to T-Mobile and the EVO 3D coming to Sprint.

Now, after being spotted at CTIA, the G2x really had nowhere else to hide, so T-Mobile decided to finally officially unveil it to the public.

Samsung Set To Deliver Android's Answers To The iPod Touch - The Galaxy Player 4 And 5

Samsung Set To Deliver Android's Answers To The iPod Touch - The Galaxy Player 4 And 5

While it may not grab the headlines of the iPhone or iPad, Apple's iPod Touch has been a very successful "kid brother" of sorts to their touchscreen smartphone and tablet. I often wondered if we would ever see an Android-powered equivalent to the Wi-Fi-only media device. Today Samsung announced that they will be giving customers just that with their upcoming Galaxy Player 5. A smaller (by 1") version, the Galaxy Player 4, will be released simultaneously

The media player runs Android 2.2 'Froyo' with Samsung's Touchwiz UI, and 1GHz Hummingbird processor.

Sprint Says "The Wait Is Almost Over" For The Two Guys Awaiting The Kyocera Echo - Launching April 17

Sprint Says "The Wait Is Almost Over" For The Two Guys Awaiting The Kyocera Echo - Launching April 17

Sprint's just announced that the upcoming Kyocera Echo will be released on April 17 and will sell for $199 (on a two-year contract, of course). Customers will be able to reserve the dual-screen flippity doo starting March 26.

The novelty phone sports two displays, each 3.5" with a resolution of 800x480. It has a 1GHz single-core Snapdragon processor and will run Android 2.2 Froyo at launch. While innovative designs are always welcome, an overhyped unveiling (featuring illusionist David Blaine) and ho-hum specs have led some to ridicule Kyocera's latest Android device long before its release date was announced.

MWC has officially started, and one of the first press conferences of this massive mobile event is from Samsung, still going on live as I'm writing this. Samsung's first announcement: Galaxy S II, which was fully expected to be revealed based on various leaks and Samsung's own preview ads throughout the past few weeks.

Update: Unconfirmed word on the street is that the S 2 will be carried by only T-Mo and AT&T.

Samsung Unveils The Galaxy Tab 10.1, Motorola XOOM Buyers Take Notice

Right now at MWC 2011, Samsung's just released the first official confirmation of a new addition to the Galaxy Tab family, namely the Galaxy Tab 10.1. Unlike the 7-incher preceding it, the 10.1 packs a 1 GHz dual-core CPU and Android 3.0 Honeycomb. Rather like the controversially-priced Motorola XOOM, the 10.1 also includes a 1280 x 800 resolution screen and multiple cameras.

In terms of connectivity we find quad-band HSPA+, A/B/G/N WiFi, and Bluetooth 2.1.
