ASUS ZenPad Z10 LTE model available exclusively on Verizon

Today, ASUS and Verizon announced the LTE-equipped model of the ASUS ZenPad Z10 tablet. If you're already on Big Red, which you have to be for this device, it's not a bad choice for the asking price of $329.99.

The Z10 LTE is powered by a Snapdragon 650 CPU with 3GB of RAM, running Android 6.0 (with ASUS' ZenUI, of course). There is no indication in the press release or Verizon's site of an update to Android 7.0 Nougat, so don't get your hopes up. The Z10 has 32GB of internal storage, expandable with microSD cards up to 128GB.

The screen is a 9.7" panel at 2048x1536, with a 178° wide viewing angle.

Asus provides US launch details for the Zenfone 3 and ZenWatch 3

Asus announced the ZenWatch 3 several weeks ago, but neglected to provide information on when you could buy one. Irksome, but nothing compared to the Zenfone 3 that was available in some markets over the summer. Well, now you can finally plan to pick up both, if that's something you want to do. The ZenWatch 3 and all Zenfone 3 variants will be available in the coming weeks, but pricing on the Zenfone 3 is a little higher than expected.

LG V20 set to release on October 28th for T-Mobile

In all of the fun Pixel news this week, it was easy to forget about other Android phones (well, until this happened). And while no official date has been given for Google's latest at the time of this writing, the Pixels are set to ship to those who pre-ordered within two to three weeks.

That brings us to the LG V20. Back in September, the renowned leaker Evan Blass claimed it would go on sale on October 21st, making it the first phone to launch with Nougat in the U.S. Today, T-Mobile announced via a press release that the V20 will be available on October 28th.

Shazam Lite weighs 1MB, uses little data, works offline, and is coming to select countries today

The regular Shazam app is becoming more and more of a social network centered around music than the music discovery engine it once was. It weighs over 27MB, tries to load recommendations and popular tracks each time you open it, and has charts and Auto Shazam, and plenty of features that you may not need or want especially when you're on a slow network or have limited bandwidth. That's why Shazam Lite was created.

It goes to the heart of Shazam: music recognition.

The fingerprint sensor on Sony's Xperia XZ and X Compact can be enabled by a firmware flash

After having a Nexus 6P, I think I'd find it pretty difficult to go back to not having a fingerprint sensor. It's just such a convenient way to quickly and easily unlock my phone. The Sony Xperia XZ and X Compact (this year's model) both have fingerprint sensors, but weirdly on the US editions (and possibly others from around the world), they are disabled via software. Xperiablog has found that by flashing the UK firmware, the sensor can be enabled.

Left: US firmware - 1304-9206. Right: UK firmware - 1305-2216.

A thread on XDA details the process - in essence, download and install Xperiafirm, Xperia Companion (from Sony), and Flashtool.

Nexus 9 LTE is receiving official Android 7.0 Nougat with September 6th security patch

Like the Nexus 6, the Nexus 9 LTE didn't receive Nougat when most other Google devices did; however, since the Nexus 9 LTE sold significantly fewer units than the Nexus 6, there wasn't much outcry. Not too long after that, Google told us that updates for both devices would be arriving "in the coming weeks." Two days ago, the Nexus 6 finally got the update to Android 7.0 Nougat, and now, the LTE-equipped Nexus 9 is also receiving it.

The unlocked Moto Z is now available for $699.99 from Motorola, Amazon, and B&H

Motorola granted Verizon the exclusive on the Moto Z family of devices over the summer, but now you can finally pick up a Moto Z that's fully unlocked and compatible with GSM networks. Not that I necessarily think you should—the unlocked Moto Z is priced at $700, and that's without any Moto Mods. You can do it, though.
