If you need a factory image for Motorola's new Moto G4 (XT1624), there's good news. It's now available. If, however, you need a factory image for an older Motorola phone, you're out of luck. The Moto G4 is currently the only device with an official factory image available for download. The Moto G4 Plus is also not listed right now. Read More
A few days ago, we posted a teardown of the latest Google Maps beta. Another minor, but much appreciated, change in this beta version is that distances now appear alongside results in search.
This is a very minor feature, but definitely one worth mentioning. Most of the time when I searched for locations, I had to look at the map myself and figure out which was the closest. As you would expect, it shows the distance in either Imperial 'Murican or Metric units, depending on your preference.
If you want to try out the beta release, you can download the APK from APKMirror. Read More
Less than a month ago, Huawei released the Honor 8, a rebodied P9, in the US. David reviewed the phone and found that while it has solid hardware, the software in its current state is severely flawed. If you're willing to wait for the supposedly completely revamped EMUI 5 to come out, you can grab an Honor 8 from Newegg for just $359.99 with a coupon code and also get a pair of headphones and a clear case for free. Last year, I attended the launch of the Nexus 5X and 6P. Google also introduced the Pixel C, a refreshed Chromecast, and the new Chromecast Audio at this event to an audience of maybe 100 to 150 journalists. For the biggest company in tech, it felt like a small affair, and if I'm honest, one without much sense of occasion. We were seated in an artsy venue in San Francisco in a room that had been converted into a sort of banquet hall. Front and center, there was a small stage. I watched Sundar Pichai walk up that stage to greet us good morning, much in the way the Senior Vice President Of Team Building would kick off ManageCamp '16 at the Hilton. Read More

Read it later apps are massively popular, with examples such as Instapaper or Pocket being among the most downloaded apps on Google Play. Google is also getting into the game now, albeit in a different way, with the Chrome team adding a read it later feature to the development versions of the browser.
As alluded to, both Chrome Dev and Chrome Beta have this, but in slightly different guises. Read More
Motorola is going all-in on modular accessories this year, and Verizon is right there with it. The Moto Z Play was announced recently, and it's a Verizon exclusive for a few weeks before it ships unlocked in October. This device works with all the same Moto Mods as the other Moto Z variants, but it's much less spendy at around $400 on Verizon. That's a big advantage when you're pushing Mods that cost as much as $300. Are the trade-offs worth it? Is this finally the phone that makes modular smartphones viable? Let's find out. Read More
Vizio has been teasing its new Google Cast speakers for several months and they're now finally, officially official. The new SmartCast Crave series has two speakers and they both look positively badass with a satin aluminum grille, but I have to say I'm mostly smitten by the 360.
The Crave 360 has a tubular shape reminiscent of the Amazon Echo, and uses it to blast tunes in 360 degrees. It's meant to be a portable and stationary speaker in one, with an 8h battery life and a wireless charging base that you can pluck it on and take it off whenever you feel like bringing it to the garden, park, balcony, or just moving it around the house. In the market for a pair of headphones? If so, you should check these Bose SoundTrue Around-Ear Headphones II out. Currently, Best Buy has them for just $89.99 - that's $90 off MSRP (50% off) and nearly $60 cheaper than Amazon's price. In addition, this price is actually cheaper than it was during Amazon's Prime Day, which was $99.99. This is a steal. Read More
