Gestures for page forward/back may be coming to Chrome for Android

Obviously, we prefer Android here at Android Police, but there are a handful of features from iOS that we historically envy, like iMessage, the platform's expanded app selection, and the performance of Apple's SoCs. But more minor feature from Safari that Android converts may have missed and which Chrome for Android lost long ago could be coming back. As spotted by the folks at Chrome Story, gesture-based history navigation may be coming to Chrome (i.e., swipe to go back/forward).

Google rolls out new media and messaging features to Android Auto

In case you missed the APK Teardown yesterday, Google has made several new features official in Android Auto today. The message preview and new media UI from the teardown are on the docket, but Google also made some tweaks to media search and group messaging in the car. As always, Google says it has worked to add more convenience features without sacrificing safety. I've been using the updated Android Auto for the last week, and while it's a minor update, there are a few nice additions.

Android Auto v3.8 adds optional message previews and revamps the music player [APK Teardown]

The latest Auto update is rolling out and it's making a couple of substantial changes, at least by the standards of an Auto update. You'll now have the option to see the first several words of incoming messages when they arrive, and the music player has been given a makeover that changes both its looks and a little bit of functionality. It seems this update is rolling out to a pretty small number of people right now.

Android Pie is now rolling out to the Motorola One and One Power globally

Lenovo announced two new Android One devices in late August 2018: the Motorola One and One Power. The budget smartphones marked the Motorola brand's first Android One handsets outside of the US-only version of the Moto X4. Both are fairly middle-of-the-road Android devices when it comes to hardware, but software support is the real selling point, with promised updates to both Android Pie and Q, along with three years of security patches. Now, the manufacturer is following through on the first major update, with the announcement that Android Pie software is rolling out globally for both Motorola One handsets.
