Sonos, a company that develops wireless speaker solutions, announced today that the official Android app was almost ready to rock your speaker setup and would be available soon.
Fully supporting multi-room configurations, the app will let you control music that is flowing to your Sonos speakers, sync all rooms to play the same song (hey, that's actually pretty cool), search your collection, control individual speaker volume, listen to online radio, and play music from a variety of services, such as Napster, Spotify, Pandora, Rhapsody, SiriusXM, and LastFM. Yesterday, we saw INQ's Cloud Touch Android handset with deep Facebook integration revealed in all its socially introjected glory in an exclusive TechCrunch demo. Coming to Europe in May of this year and possibly to the U.S. after, the Cloud Touch will be taking aim at text-crazy teenagers and insomniac Facebook users who spend the better halves of their days prowling the depths of the largest social network in the world. Urbanspoon, the popular restaurant review website, has had its Android app treated to a huge update today. The app - which helps the user find nearby local restaurants using filters such as cost, distance and type of food - can now do much, much more.
The update features a new home screen, and also shows photos and reviews of individual restaurants. In addition to letting users sign up for an Urbanspoon account and write their own reviews, you can now also book reservations (although I could not do this in the area where I live), and connect with Facebook friends. AT&T’s announced pricing for the Motorola Atrix Laptop Dock left much of the community scratching their heads. $500 for a gutless laptop? Though the docking capability is innovative, many were put off and vocal of steering clear of the Atrix altogether. Forbes reached out to AT&T for some commenting and were delivered this message from VP Mike Woodward:
“With all the integration between the phone and the dock, you can do more on an Atrix than you can on a netbook,” Woodward explained.
With many Cliq XT users threatening to walk after Motorola’s Eclair update fiasco, T-Mobile is feeling quite sympathetic. In an effort to prevent more customers from cancelling and subscribing elsewhere, T-Mobile is now offering Cliq XT users some form of compensation through their Customer Loyalty department. Due to the proposed confidentiality of the memo the exact incentive is unknown. Cliq XT users are encouraged to call and find out what’s the best they can get to remain loyal to the purple T. HP's recently announced TouchPad is a genuinely exciting device - there's no question about that. In fact, with such features as a dual-core Qualcomm CPU and the fancy new "Tap to Share" technology, it might just be the most serious competition Honeycomb tablets will face in the first half of 2011, aside from a certain Apple product.
But is it enough to cause you, dear Android Police reader, to second-guess the XOOM or G-Slate? Read More
Vodafone has officially announced they will be launching a black and white Nexus S on contract in 24 countries worldwide. Vodafone, which was one of Google's first carrier partners for the Nexus One, has listed the device as "coming soon" on their website. This should bump Nexus S sales a bit in the UK as up until now, the Google-branded handset was only available in the UK unlocked.
At this point, we do not have any details on a price or probable launch date, but look for this device soon. Read More

The majority of TV shows I watch are produced by the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation), primarily because the BBC iPlayer web app makes it incredibly easy to watch shows free and on-demand. The icing on the cake is the announcement today that a free iPlayer app will be launching on Android and iOS devices in the UK by the end of the week.
The app will deliver live content to any Android or iOS device, as well as radio broadcasts. Read More
