Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and the awesome 10 Billion Apps promo, sadly, reached its final day. I wish it could go on forever and become a regular thing, at least with one app a day - how about it, Google?
Today, we have 8 new apps/games and 4 repeats. Here they are:
Despite rumors that the game would be delayed until 2012, Sega released Sonic CD to the Android Market today, bringing nostalgic Sonic action to your Android device for just $1.99.
Sonic CD follows the titular hedgehog hero to Never Lake to see Little Planet, a time-bending world powered by Time Stones. Of course, Dr. Eggman wants to get his hands on the Time Stones in order to control time, and it's up to you to stop him.
Looking to give players "the ultimate 3rd person shooter" experience, Glu Mobile has released Frontline Commando to the Android Market.
Frontline Commando charges players with avenging fellow soldiers who fell during a renegade attack on a ruthless dictator. Frontline includes a wide array of weaponry and stunning "console quality visuals," making it a compelling and dynamic war action game. The thrill of warding off enemy forces is enhanced by sophisticated physics, destructible objects, and a variety of challenging missions.
American Airlines began rolling out Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablets to premium cabins today, giving premium passengers innumerable ways to pass time on long flights. The initial rollout sounds quite impressive, covering select transcontinental and other domestic flights, and offering 70 movies on top of the Tab's numerous other entertainment options.
In addition to the rich entertainment experience provided by the Tab, First and Business Class customers will have access to Bose QuietComfort 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphones, which should drown out any distractions for a slightly more pleasant flight.
If you're looking to get a NOOK Color this holiday season, and have an appreciation for hot discounts (who doesn't?), today's your lucky day. Barnes & Noble is now selling manufacturer refurbished units on eBay for just $129.99 with free shipping.
For those not familiar, the NOOK Color features a 7" VividView IPS display, an 800MHz processor, 512MB of RAM, and of course, access to over 2.5 million titles in "the world's largest bookstore."
Here it is boys and gals, the moment we've all been waiting for - the official launch date for the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon. The Android dreams of so many of us across the country will finally be fulfilled tomorrow, December 15th for three-hundred bones and a two-year agreement.
Update: The phone will go on sale on vzw.com at 1 a.m. EST December 15th.
Seems like we've been waiting for an eternity - who's going to be waiting in line?
Looking to spruce your lockscreen up a bit? The MIUI Team is bringing a new flavor to the lockscreen arena, simply called MiLocker.
MiLocker looks to compete with offerings such as WidgetLocker and GO Locker as your lockscreen replacement, and after spending just a few minutes with it, I can say that it's quite nice - enough so that it will most likely become my primary lockscreen replacement (at least for a while).
We love Dead Zebra's Android figurines - especially when there's a limited edition one up for grabs, like the awesome new Toy Soldier (which is sold out for now, unfortunately). Andrew Bell of Dead Zebra has kindly given us five of these little guys to hand out to hand out to our readers.
This contest is now over. Here are our winners, selected at random:
Congratulations, guys - all of you will be contacted for your information in the near future!
Google Translate just got a little update that brings big functionality: the ability to recognize written words in seven different languages. The previous version allowed for text and spoken input only, so this update adds just another method to the mix.
You may be asking yourself why is this a big deal? This is a useful feature partly due to the fact that it can translate Chinese and Japanese, which both use characters that are uncommon to English keyboards.
Oh, you thought we'd be doing just one mega-holiday giveaway a day for ten days? You thought wrong. Now, we realize the first contest we held today was for our US readers only, so we're going to give the international crowd some love with this one. You can thank our friends over at NVIDIA who are always happy to offer some Tegra-powered awesomeness to our worldwide audience, this time in the form of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 32GB Wi-Fi edition.
