There are some impressive alternatives to Google's flagship tablet, but if you want an AOSP-powered machine with a built-in LTE radio, you're hard pressed to find anything in the same weight class. The 32GB version of the Nexus 9 LTE goes for a whopping $600 on Google's online US storefront. Amazon is selling it for quite a bit less, but if you want a good deal, you can't beat Expansys USA. Online gamers know the value of communication, believe it or not. For every twelve-year-old cursing into his mic like a sailor with a stubbed toe, a dozen are connected to third-party communication apps and coordinating efforts behind the scenes. That's actually a bit tricky for PC games - you either need some kind of overlay or you have to switch programs to manage your connection. Curse, a service with more than a million registered users, hopes to fix that.
Curse is a mobile app that lets you communicate with your fellow players without having to break the flow of the game on your computer screen. Read More
The LG G4 is out now, so the G3 is technically yesterday's news. It's still a fine phone, though, and the price is getting more reasonable all the time. You can pick up a new unlocked one right now for $330 on eBay. It was most recently on sale for $340, and it's still around $400 on Amazon.
Google gave us an update for YouTube a little early this week, bumping the latest version number up to v10.24. Aside from a few bug fixes, which we certainly won't complain about, the changes appear to be mostly cosmetic. A new splash screen appears at launch and quite a few icons have been replaced. On the surface, this update doesn't seem to deliver any new functionality, but a teardown reveals some hints about what may be coming in YouTube's future. Read More
Cheap USB car chargers are a dime a dozen, even ones with enough ports to charge two devices at once. But this dual-USB (2.1A + 1A) charger from Elivebuy stands out, and it's not because this is the fastest charger of the bunch. It caught our attention because it just might save your life, and it will do it for six bucks if you go to Amazon and enter the coupon code Q626JPAD at checkout.
The charger in question comes with a glass hammer that can be used to shatter windows during an emergency. It also comes with LED lights that can provide illumination in the darkness or serve as hazard warnings. Read More
Today, GMC and Buick wrapped up the larger set of Android Auto announcements for GM's 2016 model year lineup, adding five more Auto-ready vehicles into the mix. Those cars are as follows:
- 2016 GMC Canyon
- 2016 GMC Yukon
- 2016 GMC Sierra
- 2016 Buick LaCrosse
- 2016 Buick Regal
All but the Sierra have only GM's 8" infotainment system as an option, meaning they'll ship with CarPlay and get Android Auto at a later date (probably early 2016, if you want a rough estimate). The GMC Sierra is offered in some trims with the 7" GM infotainment system, and others with the 8", and the former system will ship with Android Auto from the factory. Read More
Samsung's promotion website has a new deal today that might tempt you to finally pull the trigger on that Galaxy S6 you've had your eye on. If you buy the 64GB Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge, Samsung will basically cover the difference between that and the 32GB with a $100 rebate. Samsung calls this the "Ultimate Upgrade." You have until the end of the day on July 5th to make your purchase.
Google regularly hands out free music albums, and it tries to shake things up in the process. In the past we've seen options as varied as Disney's Frozen and Kaskade's I Remember. This week listeners are treated to Latin-flavored songs from Romeo Santos. If you head to Google Play, you can download Fórmula, Vol. 2 in its entirety without paying a cent.
Fórmula, Vol. 2 hit the charts in February of 2014. It comes with 20 tracks, and altogether, you're looking at over an hour of content. Santos' hit singles "Odio" and "Propuesta Indecente" both call this album home.
Whether you're a big fan or just want to check out a Latin album for curiosity's sake, it doesn't matter. Read More
