T-Mobile's LG G Stylo And LG Leon Are Being Updated To Android 5.1.1, With A Wi-Fi Calling Fix For Good Measure

Well this is a pleasant surprise. The mid-range LG G Stylo and LG Leon both appeared on T-Mobile's lineup just a couple of months ago, and now they're getting their first significant updates. Significant in fact because they're coming to the very latest public build of Android. T-Mobile's support pages for both phones were updated this morning telling users to expect an over-the-air update to Android 5.1.1. Both phones (also somewhat surprisingly) ran Lollipop 5.0 when they first launched on the US carrier.

[Updated] [Rumor] No Nexus Tablet In 2015, But Two Phones—A 5.2-Inch LG (Code Name Bullhead) And A 5.7-Inch Huawei (Code Name Angler)

The Nexus 6 was a break from the past for the Nexus program with its high price tag and massive size, but it was probably an emergency replacement after the collapse of Android Silver. We've been wondering if Google would recommit to the Nexus program, and it's sounding like yes—in a big way. We've gotten some details on two alleged Nexus phones for 2015, but there are currently no plans for a tablet.

LG's Low-End G Stylo Comes To Boost Mobile Today For $200, Sprint And Sprint Prepaid Starting In June

The G Stylo is an odd beast: its huge screen and built-in stylus imply a competitor to the Galaxy Note series, but a collection of low-end hardware specs means that it's actually intended for bargain hunters or those on a tight budget. If you're looking to get an interesting phone on the equally cheap Boost Mobile MVNO, you've now got the G Stylo as a choice. Boost is selling the phone for $199.99 without a contract.

Boost's parent company Sprint will also offer the G Stylo, but for some reason it's going to take a little longer to arrive with yellow paint.

LG Watch Urbane Review: $350 Buys You The Nicest Android Wear Watch Yet, If That's Something You Want

LG's newest smartwatch, the LG Watch Urbane, costs $350. So let me just throw it out there now: judging LG's new Watch Urbane from a value perspective is sort of completely silly. When it comes to value, I don't think any Android Wear watch has especially great appeal - after all, you're paying as much or more for one than you would a relatively inexpensive smartphone, a smartphone that does many, many more things. But the Watch Urbane has even less value appeal than most Wear devices (not that this is at all fatal to its success as a product).

If you really care about value, the Sony SmartWatch 3 with its Wi-Fi, GPS, and NFC are right here for $100 less than the Watch Urbane (if not less than that if you get it on sale).

LG Announces The G Stylo, A 5.7" Low-End Phone With A Stylus And Not Much Else

LG G Stylo is not the name of South Korea's first robot hairdresser. Nope, it's a low-end LG phone designed around a big screen, a stylus, and not a whole lot else. The name, according to LG's press release, is a pun on both "stylus" and "stylish." Feel free to spend a minute or two letting that marketing decision sink in.

64013

Ostensibly a sequel to the G3 Stylus, the G Stylo is probably the phone that circulated as the G4 in those rumors a few months back. One look at the spec sheet is enough to kill that notion: it's a 5.7-inch phone with a 720p screen, a Snapdragon 410 processor, and 1.5GB of RAM.

[Update: English Version] LG's New UX 4.0 Teaser Video Contains Several UX Demos, Lots Of Stock Photography

LG's Android UI started off as a bad copy of TouchWiz back in the Gingerbread days, but more recently it's evolved into its own thing. That thing is not always good, but it's not horrendous either. LG has just posted a video preview of the LG UX 4.0, which will probably be used on the G4, and you can suffer through it watch it below.
