Renders reveal Huawei Mate 20 with triple rear cameras and Essential Phone-like notch

While this past year hasn't been entirely smooth sailing for telecom equipment and device manufacturer Huawei, there have been some major highlights. Among them: the critical success of the Huawei P20, an Android device reviewers were surprisingly passionate about, which is rare in this smartphone-fatigued modern era. Along with the Mate series, Huawei's P series represents the company's premium-tier efforts. Now, a series of credible renders have emerged that reveal the alleged Mate 20, Huawei's next shot at impressing the Android set.

Grand Mountain Adventure is one of the best skiing games on Android, and it's not even finished yet

Over the weekend one of the developers of Grand Mountain Adventure made a few successful posts on Reddit. Being the homebody that I am, I, of course, saw those posts and gave the game a quick look. Let's just say I came away very impressed, and despite the unfinished state of the title and its limited amount of preview content, I dare say it's one of the best skiing games on Android to date.

Pokémon GO is locking out users after scanning internal storage for evidence of rooting

Mobile games don't tend to look favorably on rooted devices — i.e. smartphones where the user has root access to the system code — due to the potential for cheating. However, not many go to the extreme that Niantic has just imposed with a recent update for its massively popular Pokémon GO game.

22 temporarily free and 45 on-sale apps to start the week

Another week has begun, so let's get it started with some app sales. Today's list is rather small for a Monday, but it's also quite uninteresting. That's just how it goes sometimes, but still look through what's available. You never know, something here might catch your eye.

Huawei tries passing off DSLR shots as Nova 3 camera samples, gets caught in the most amusing way imaginable

Huawei's not very good at honest advertising. Remember when it photoshopped the bezels out of its P8 and P8max marketing photos? Or when it used a $4,500 DSLR to take P9 "camera samples"? The company has gotten caught in yet another act of deception, this time in an impossibly hilarious manner thanks to a slip-up from an actress involved.

[Deal Alert] Essential Phone in Halo Gray down to $280 ($220 off) on Amazon

Aside from its incredible build and lightning-quick updates, I'd argue that the most interesting thing about the Essential Phone is how low its price dropped in such a short time; this once-$700 phone hit an all-time low of just $249.99 on Amazon last month for Prime Day. Today's deal on the Halo Gray Essential Phone can't quite beat that, but at $279.99, it comes close.

Upcoming Chromecast refresh will have Bluetooth and improved Wi-Fi reception

The second-generation Chromecast, which is still the current model, was released in 2015. There hasn't been much of a need for hardware refreshes, especially since the original model still works just fine. It was already known that Google was working on a refreshed model, but now additional details from FCC documents are available.

[Deal Alert] T-Mobile Galaxy S8 down to just $350 from Samsung

Last-generation phones are expected to depreciate, but Samsung phones typically retain their value better than many of their competitors. It's pretty surprising, then, that Samsung is currently offering the T-Mobile Galaxy S8 for only $350, around $400 off the launch price and $250 off the current MSRP. If you don't mind not having the latest and greatest thing and you're on Team Magenta, you may want to look into this.

How to install Linux on your Chromebook

One of the most exciting new features in Chrome OS is the ability to run applications designed for Linux. Most software that can run on Ubuntu, Debian, or other Linux distributions will work. This is the first time it has been possible to (officially) run traditional desktop software on Chromebooks, and the possibilities are endless.

Unfortunately, the feature is a bit tricky to figure out if you don't already have experience with Linux. In this guide, we'll show you how to set up the Linux container on your Chromebook and how to install applications.

31 best new Android games released this week including Bendy in Nightmare Run, PUBG Mobile Lite, and Hot Guns

Welcome to the roundup of the best new Android games that went live in the Play Store or were spotted by us in the previous week or so. This week I have a dope looking auto-runner with a '20s cartoon theme, a lite version of PUBG that is only available as a soft-launch title in limited regions, and a re-release of a solid run and gun game that now has a way to remove advertisements. So without further ado, here are the most notable games released in the last week.
