Chrome Beta 38 Adds Touch To Search Option, 'Merge Tabs And Apps', New API Support, And Some Killer Bugs [APK Download]

Version 37 of Chrome for Android was the biggest update in a while, at least in terms of user experience, but the march of progress never ceases. Version 38 just hit the Play Store, and while it's not exactly earth-shattering, people who obsess over the bleeding edge of Google browsers will find something interesting. According to the Chrome release blog, the new update includes additional Material Design user interface elements and new support for Android's battery status and screen orientation APIs.

Hangouts 2.3 Update Brings Remaining Google Voice Integration And A Big Visual Overhaul [APK Download]

We saw Google Voice integration go live last night, but it contained a number of issues which this update is expected to fix. Yet as exciting as this is, what's more immediately striking is the new visual redesign.

What's New

With the amount of smudging this post required, I feel like I've been working on classified documents. The new version of Hangouts plasters your email address absolutely everywhere. It's not an issue when using the app, but it does make for some rather swirly screenshots.

Dedicated Hangouts Dialer App Hits The Play Store With Phone Calling Functionality And Google Voice Integration [APK Download]

Update: Hangouts 2.3 is now rolling out to devices in stages. If you rather not wait, we can help you download it manually. And as it turns out, this Dialer just links to a tab within the new Hangouts app. It is not a separate, standalone piece of software.

Hangout's Google Voice integration is finally happening. We started seeing functionality merge into Hangouts overnight, but there remain a few kinks to work out that we're hoping an upcoming app update will fix.

Chrome Stable Hits v37, Finally Gets Its Material Makeover [APK Download]

If you like living life dangerously, you might drive over 55, wear socks with sandals, and use Chrome Beta. If that sounds like you, then you've been using Chrome with Material Design for some weeks now. Congratulations.

If not, the Materialization of Chrome Stable is now upon us. Version 37 of Google's browser hit the Play Store just a little while ago, which brings a new user interface and Incognito tab page, a simplified sign-in, and of course lots of bug fixes and improvements.

Google's News & Weather App, AKA The 'Genie Widget' Gets A Massive 2.0 Update And A Full Play Store Release [APK Download]

Update: An update to the News & Weather app posted yesterday, September 8th, seems to have fixed some of the compatibility errors people have been seeing. At least here in the United States, the app is compatible with every Android 4.0+ device for all of our writers. There doesn't appear to be any other significant update just yet.

Google's News & Weather app, AKA the "Genie" widget (after the APK name), has been more or less unchanged for years.

OnePlus One XNPH33R OTA Is Out With Badly Needed Fixes - Here Is The Zip For Manual Flashing

The OnePlus One is receiving another OTA today - one I'm probably more excited about than any other OTA the company has released so far. Mostly because unlocking the phone and using apps has deteriorated into a constant battle with an unresponsive and very moody touchscreen. Supposedly, this update should resolve this pretty major flaw, along with a few other things which I've detailed below, including the poor battery life we covered recently.

HTC Zoe App Expands To Non-HTC Devices So You Can Make And Share Pretty Videos [APK Download]

HTC has just updated the Zoe app in Google Play with support for a few non-HTC phones, but support will supposedly expand soon. The Zoe app isn't the same as HTC's Zoe camera feature in the HTC One, but it might still be interesting if you're down with making and sharing videos.

OnePlus One Receives A 2nd OTA - A Hotfix That Addresses A Screen Unlock Bug Introduced By XNPH30O [Download]

There's a reason major device updates tend to roll out in stages. Some of the earlier recipients of the OnePlus One's big July OTA were hit with a bug where the PIN unlock screen did not display properly. OnePlus hasn't wasted any time hopping on this issue, and they're now pushing out a hotfix to the limited people who received the first OTA already and those who have flashed manually.

[Update: OTA Zip + More Changes] OnePlus One July OTA Update Bringing Android 4.4.4 Begins Rolling Out To Devices

The fashionably late July over-the-air update for the OnePlus One that bumps the handset up to Android 4.4.4 is beginning to roll out as of now and will continue through the end of the week (it's staged, with 10% rolling out first). In addition to new versions of Google apps, the update contains a cooler calibration for its screen and fixes that stop the phone from activating off-screen gestures while in your pocket.

[Update: Album Art Fix] Google Play Music Updated With New And Redesigned Widgets, Public Playlist Search, And More [APK Download]

Update 8/7/14 #1: Quite a few of you experienced issues with album art after updating to version 5.6.1616P. Google has now released a new update 5.6.1617P which resolves this (you can find the new APK below). You may need to clear data and restart the app if album art still doesn't show up.
