OpenSignal's bi-yearly carrier report for the US was just released, and T-Mobile's rampage from last year seems to be continuing. Although both Verizon and AT&T are seeing some recovery in network speed after the reintroduction of their unlimited plans last year, T-Mobile has again topped nearly every category in OpenSignal's testing. Sprint, though still in 4th overall, is also making great strides in both speed and availability. Read More
If you live in the United States and walk into a Verizon store, you have essentially four options when it comes to choosing a premium smartphone brand: Apple, Samsung, LG, and Google. Yesterday, we learned that continuing to expect LG will be one of these options probably isn't the best bet.
While there may yet be a premium LG phone that launches on Verizon, the Korean conglomerate looks poised to join Motorola as one of Verizon's when-it's-convenient handset partners, and is quite possibly on its way to the Verizon graveyard with the likes of HTC, Sony, and BlackBerry.

It's been rumored for some time - and was considered a near-given in circles of mobile tech gossip - that Huawei would be launching a smartphone on AT&T in early 2018. Many assumed this would be the company's flagship Mate 10 or Mate 10 Pro, at least until a report from the Wall Street Journal this afternoon seemed to put those plans on ice.
According to the Journal, AT&T allegedly has backed out of a deal to sell Huawei smartphones, and on the eve of what most thought would be the announcement of that partnership here at CES 2018.
The story offers no reason for AT&T's decision to kill the deal, and given how many moving parts such partnerships can entail, it really could be anything. Read More
These days, most manufacturers aim for their phones to have things like small bezels, longer screens, and water resistance. ZTE apparently didn't get this memo when it decided to sell the Axon M, a dual-screen and foldable smartphone, exclusively on AT&T. At its starting price of $725, it was a hard sell. Although development of Android for tablets has largely stagnated, mid-range media consumption tablets are still cheaply produced. The AT&T Moto Tab (stylized as 'moto tab') is technically Motorola's first tablet since the Xoom 2 (known as the Xyboard in the United States), though the design strongly resembles that of the Lenovo Tab 4 10. You can now buy the Moto Tab from AT&T for $299.99 upfront, or for $15/month for 20 months. The 2011 Motorola XOOM is one of the most legendary Android devices of all time, even if it wasn't a very good product. Motorola and Google went big with a Super Bowl commercial, and it was the first device to run the tablet-tailored Android 3.0 Honeycomb. It was perhaps the first real iPad competitor, but the high initial price and lack of tablet-optimized apps meant it never really took off. In one of the most left-field phone releases of the year, ZTE recently announced the foldable, dual-screen Axon M. Leaks had already spoiled the surprise somewhat, but when David got it in his hands he was actually rather more impressed by the phone than he expected to be. Today, the device is available to order, and it's being sold exclusively through AT&T in the US.
