Google Pixel 6a vs. Pixel 3a: Time to upgrade?

Is it time to say, "Goodnight, sweet prince," to the Pixel 3a?

The Google Pixel 3a has achieved classic status in its life cycle, though it's no longer on our list of favorite Android phones. At the time of its release, it was a welcome step by Google towards an affordable version of its flagship phone that sacrificed little to reduce the price point. It maintained the excellent cameras, Google Assistant features, and software support that we'd come to associate with the Pixel phone while slightly decreasing overall performance by opting for a lesser processor.

The Galaxy S23 series still represents some of the best Android phones available today. While they aren't a major leap forward compared to the S22 from last year (unless you live in an Exynos region), they are a definite upgrade over the aging Galaxy S10 or S20.

Give your older smartwatch a fresh new look

While the Galaxy Watch 6 is shaping up to be one of 2023's best smartwatches, the older Galaxy Watch 4 and 5 models are still hanging around, with many of us deciding not to upgrade just yet. One of the best things about Samsung's wearables is how long they'll get new features for, with four years of OS upgrades promised. That commitment to support continues now as the watch faces from the Watch 6 are brought to older models via an app update.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic are the latest smartwatches from Samsung, and once again, they are some of the best smartwatches available. The design hasn't changed much since the introduction of the Watch 4, aside from some smaller bezels, but one stand-out change that anyone who's used a Watch 6 will notice is the strap.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra vs. Galaxy S22 Ultra: Spot the difference

The Galaxy S23 Ultra changes very little, but it's still a big upgrade

When the Galaxy S23 Ultra was released earlier this year, it looked like little more than a spec bump over the Galaxy S22 Ultra it replaced. A new chip and more megapixels in the primary camera sensor aren't revolutionary improvements. So, is the S23 Ultra just a minor upgrade over its predecessor, or is it greater than the sum of its parts? Let's break down the key differences between these two Samsung phones.

Google Pixel 7 vs. Samsung Galaxy S22: Battle of the 'small' flagships

Even with a smaller price tag, the Pixel 7 has some unique advantages

In a lot of ways, the Google Pixel 7 is a more refined version of last year's Pixel 6. Many of the bugs and connectivity issues that plagued the Pixel 6 are gone, leaving a device that is a blast to use. Like the Pixel 7, the Samsung Galaxy S22 launched in 2022 and was a powerhouse when it initially launched. Even over a year later, the Galaxy S22 is still near the top of the pack in capabilities. Both of these devices are still considered some of the best Android phones you can get and due to their age, can be purchased at a reasonable price. If you are on the hunt for yesterdays flagship, you can't do much better than either of these devices.

Even though the Google Pixel 7a and Samsung Galaxy A54 5G have been released, the Pixel 6a and Galaxy A53 still provide impressive value, as the mid-rangers of last year become available at a budget price this year. This is the biggest One UI update in years

Samsung's One UI 6 beta had a couple of false starts, but now it's in full swing for Samsung Galaxy S23 owners. The changes we've found so far are extensive and certainly more prevalent than last year's One UI 5 update. They range from minor aesthetics to core functionality, so there will be plenty to get used to once the update arrives on your phone. Some changes are more welcome than others, so with that in mind, here are our favorite One UI 6 beta updates so far.

The OnePlus Nord N20 5G might not be our top choice for a budget-friendly Android phone, but it's still a solid pick and one of the most recent OnePlus budget devices to make the jump to the US. It also looks great, though those looks must be protected to keep them intact for years to come. Luckily there are plenty of cases to choose from to keep it safe. Here are some of our favorites.

Does the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 come with an S Pen?

Or do you have to pay extra for this excellent accessory?

By

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is Samsung's latest and greatest big-screen foldable phone, and like last year's model one of the standout features is support for the S Pen stylus. The Fold 3 was the first of Samsung's foldables to support the S Pen, but it didn't include the stylus in the box, and neither did the Fold 4. Instead you had to buy it separately, and unfortunately not much has changed in that regard.

Even the best Android tablets have had a rough journey since they were introduced over a decade ago, but this hasn't stopped Samsung from pushing forward and releasing impressive hardware year after year. The last Samsung tablet I used was the 2013 Note 10.1, so needless to say, things have improved a lot in the subsequent years, with plenty to look forward to. Here are the five things I'm looking forward to using the most with Samsung's latest and greatest tablet hardware.

Amazon Kindles do wonders for streamlining reading on the go, storing your favorites from its massive library of content, safe and accessible via a compact and intuitive interface. Z-Fold-4-vs-Z-fold-3-hero

Foldables are the exciting new form factor that many people are excited about. When you look at Samsung's foldables, it's impressive to see how stable the company has made this particular product category within only four generations. On paper, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 doesn't seem like much of an upgrade over the Z Fold 3, but the differences may be more significant in person. A spec sheet only tells half a story, so let's dig deeper and explore how each phone compares.

Fold5-vs-Flip5

Samsung has just unveiled its latest folding phones: The Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5. Both are iterative upgrades over the phones that preceded them, and it's clear that these phones are targeted at first-time foldable owners. With that in mind, which foldable style should you spend your money on?

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 vs. Galaxy Z Fold 4: Does a new hinge warrant an upgrade?

A new chip and redesigned hinge are all there is to see here

By

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 has just been announced, and it seems we have another year of iterative upgrades. The new foldable looks almost identical to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 from the outside, with the differences on the inside. Does that make the Z Fold 5 a disappointment, or do the minor changes come together to create something greater than the sum of its parts? Let's break everything down and find out.

Ten years ago today, Google released the 2nd-generation Nexus 7, just days after a surprise announcement. Back then, Android tablets still felt fresh and exciting. It seemed like anything was possible, and things could only improve from there. Well, we know what happened next. But the depressing state of the tablet market to come was in no way the fault of the Nexus 7. In fact, this is still one of the best Android tablets ever made, and it's worth looking back and showing it the honor and respect it deserves.

Does the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 support cover screen apps?

The larger cover screen has a lot of potential

By

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 made us all breathe a sigh of relief when it included a proper cover screen, a massive upgrade over the tiny screen included on the Flip a Flip 5G. That screen was great for the time, but since then, phones like the Moto Razr+Oppo Find N2 Flip have pushed the boundary of what we expect from flip phones. Thankfully, the Z Flip 5 is keeping up with a new 3.4-inch cover screen that opens up what you can do when the phone is closed. The question remains, what can you do with it, and can you use apps here?
