There are plenty of low-cost Android tablets out there, but they don't come much cheaper than Amazon's Fire tablets. The previous-gen Fire 7, released in 2019, is a very basic tablet, with a sub-HD display and microUSB charging. But it's plenty capable of light tasks like reading or simple games, and today, you can pick one up at a crazy low price: just 30 bucks.

Samsung Galaxy Watch4 Classic review: Even better with time

Now with 100 percent more Google Assistant

By

Released in Summer 2021, the Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic are the first watches to run the revamped Wear OS 3. After a slightly shaky release window, Samsung’s made good on its promises to add once-missing features like the Google Assistant through updates. Nearly a year after launch, I’m still regularly using the thing — and thanks in part to Samsung keeping its word, I still love it.

Leaked screenshots give us a peek at Samsung's 'official' One UI Watch 4.5 update

Looks like there'll be a few new accessibility tweaks in tow

We know Samsung's working on the One UI Watch 4.5 update for its Galaxy Watch4 and Watch4 Classic — there's an ongoing beta program, after all. That beta program has revealed a lot about upcoming software changes, but today, we're getting an even better look: leaker Evan Blass has shared screenshots of what he says is the "official" OneUI 4.5.

The Pixel 6 Pro is a steal at $120 off, but just for today

$780 for a proper Google flagship

The Pixel 6 Pro had a troubled release window with notable bugs and delayed updates, but the past few months have been smooth sailing, and the phone is still one of our favorites. Even at its $900 MSRP, the phone is already a strong bargain versus its competition. Today, though, it's $120 off for a final price of $780 — which is a steal for a phone this good.

Get Samsung's most petite Frame TV for its lowest price yet

The 32-inch 2020 Frame is down to $460

By

Display quality aside, most TVs look about the same: they're black rectangles that don't do much when you're not actively using them. Samsung's Frame TVs buck those trends with unique hardware styled like a picture frame and a clever feature that lets them display paintings or photos when they're not playing video. They're typically pricey, but today, you can grab a 32-inch model for $460 — still premium, but $140 off its $600 MSRP.

A $300 discount on the Galaxy Z Flip3 brings it to its lowest price ever

It's down to the price of a regular ol' non-folding phone

Folding phones are extremely cool, but with four-figure MSRPs, they're hardly mainstream yet. At a normal price of $1,000, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 is already relatively inexpensive for a device that can bend in half, but ahead of Prime Day, Amazon has discounted it to $700 — a $300 discount that makes the phone a more realistic option for regular people.

Amazon's annual Prime Day sales event doesn't officially begin until July 12, but as we get closer to the date, we're spotting more and more great deals on the site. Today's no different: right now, you can snag a pair of Sony's new LinkBuds S ANC earbuds for $178, a respectable discount of $20 off.

Samsung's Galaxy S-series tablets are some of the best you can get, but they don't come cheap. The Tab S8 starts at $700 for the 11-inch model, with the super-premium 14.6-inch Tab S8 Ultra reaching a staggering $1,400 for the highest-end configuration. The Galaxy Tab S7 FE, released last year, is a pared down version of Samsung's previous-generation flagship tablets. It keeps a lot of what's great about Samsung's pricier tablets, but makes some key cuts to reach a lower MSRP of $530. Right now, it's even more affordable at just $420.

Prime Day 2022 doesn't officially start until July 12, but Amazon has a tendency to stretch the proceedings out over a few weeks. That's no less true this year: early Prime-exclusive deals have already begun, including on tons of Fire TVs that are going for up to half off.

Qualifying unlimited customers can save big by trading phones as old as the original Samsung Galaxy S

Carrier deals typically come with a lot of strings attached. They're often limited to a certain subset of customers (or worse, new subscribers only), and discounts generally come in the form of bill credits rather than immediate cash savings. Sometimes, though, they're too juicy not to share. That's the case this time: AT&T customers on qualifying unlimited plans can trade in nearly any old Samsung phone to get a whopping $800 off a number of Android flagships, including phones like the Galaxy S22+ and the Pixel 6 Pro.

Garmin makes tons of great fitness-focused smartwatches, but a lot of them are too expensive to recommend to anyone but the most avid runners. Its Forerunner 55 watch, though, was created explicitly to appeal to novice runners, and it's got the price tag to match. Already relatively affordable at its usual $200, you can snap one up right now for $170 — $30 off and a historical low price.

Google Messages is picking up a handy new trick: as spotted by 9to5Google, you should soon be able to change what happens when you swipe conversations in your inbox. Currently, swiping left or right on a conversation archives it, but you'll soon be able to set the action to delete texts instead — or turn the feature off altogether.

Amazon's annual Prime Day event doesn't officially kick off for a few weeks yet, but the company's known to roll out plenty of deals before the festivities begin in earnest. Right now, the company's running a big Father's Day sale on all kinds of stuff — including many of its own devices that'll surely be marked down again for Prime Day.

It's down to a new low price of $180, but you'd better hurry

Samsung's Galaxy Watch4 is one of the best smartwatches on the market right now — and it's only gotten better with the recent addition of Google Assistant support. If you've been eyeing one, today's a good day to pull the trigger: you can get the 40-millimeter LTE-compatible version for $180 on Woot, a full $120 off MSRP.

It's not the flashiest foldable on the market, but the Moto Razr 5G does have a certain charm to it. Styled after Motorola's iconic flip phones of yesteryear, the newest Razr features a folding inner screen with a hinge design that lets it fold completely shut — unlike Samsung's foldables, which still have a visible gap when closed. The phone typically costs about $1,000, but you can get it for $800 today — that's $200 off.

Samsung's Galaxy A53 is one of the best budget phones on the market right now. It gets all the basics right — it's quick enough, it takes decent photos, and its battery lasts all day and then some — plus it has a fantastic, high-refresh rate display to boot. The A53's $450 MSRP is already a bargain, but right now, you can pick one up for $100 off on Amazon — just $350.

Last summer, amid an especially dicey wildfire season, Nest Hub devices got an update that added a local air quality rating to the home screen, right next to the weather. Now, just a couple of weeks ahead of summer 2022, Google's added a similar feature to Maps: a map of air quality ratings in your area, accessible from the layers menu.

In what will surely be a boon for multilingual users, Android 13 is set to introduce per-app language settings, so different apps can display in different languages. A new development in Android 13 Beta 3, available today, has streamlined the process a bit: now, only supported apps are shown in the App Languages menu.

Apple is following Google's lead on cleaning up iMessage reaction texts

iPhones in group chats with Android phones should stop seeing spammy Tapback messages in iOS 16

4
By

Earlier this year, Google rolled out a workaround for the way iPhones handle message reactions sent to Android phones: its Messages app now interprets the reactions as emojis rather than text, saving space on screen and making for an all-around smoother experience. Perhaps inspired by Google's approach, iOS 16 is making a similar change to group texts. While conversations that include Android phones still don't have full access to iMessage features, including an Android user in a group text will no longer cause so-called Tapback spam.

A decade after launch, Apple Maps will support trips with multiple stops

Google Maps has had a similar feature on desktop since 2013, mobile since 2016

Of the myriad cool things Apple showed off at its WWDC 2022 keynote presentation, a not-entirely-surprising number seemed inspired by features Google's been offering in its products for some time. That's largely how the tech industry works, but one "new" feature seemed particularly late: starting in iOS 16, you'll be able to plan routes with multiple stops in Apple Maps.
