About Matthew Sholtz
Matthew is the Games and Apps Editor at Android Police. He's been gaming since his first taste of a TI-99 at four years old. Matthew has been an Android user since the HTC Hero and has covered roundups, reviews, and daily mobile game news for over a decade. He's a person who holds a peculiar yet deep interest in all things to do with handheld gaming and constantly pushes to advance the state of the mobile industry beyond the bounds of its predatory monetization obsession.
Matthew is a furious nitpicker and something of an (albeit amusing) curmudgeon, a writer who can instantly find fault in just about anything, yet he chooses to wield this power for good from the comfort of his armchair to ensure the best Android games and apps aren't lost to obscurity.

It would appear that Capcom has been listening to its most die-hard fans as it's finally bringing us a new game in the Puzzle Fighter series. Capcom Vancouver is developing it, and it's going to be a mobile only release. If you're worried about a western studio developing what was originally a very Japanese looking and feeling game, or the fact that this is strictly a mobile only release, well, I am sad to say that your fears are warranted.
Big news folks, the sequel to Super Meat Boy is coming to Android in 2018, along with just about every other platform out there. It is titled Super Meat Boy Forever, and apparently the highly challenging platforming action that is synonymous with its name is being switched out for auto-runner gameplay.
Earlier this month Sega released their classic platformer Ristar on the Play Store as part of their SEGA Forever classic games collection program. Today they have released the traditional side-scrolling beat 'em up Golden Axe as part of the same program. You can grab the advertisement supported title for free or pay $1.99 to remove those ads and enjoy the game as it was intended.
After a short beta period The Walking Dead: March to War is officially available on the Play Store. It is a free-to-play survival strategy game that features a beautiful design. While the game's art direction is visually superb, the gameplay is lacking thanks to its liberal use of the typical free-to-play mechanics we are all too accustomed to.

If you happen to own an Nvidia Shield TV and you are a Metal Gear fan, now would be the best time to pick this title up as it's unknown how long this launch price sale will last.
X.D. Network is quickly becoming a publisher to notice. Not only did they bring To The Moon to the Play Store, but they also recently released BeatEVO YG, a popular K-pop themed rhythm game. Today we can add Gemini - A Journey of Two Stars to this list of great titles. While it's self-described as an "interactive poem," that apt description hardly does this beautiful game the justice it deserves.
Any tabletop fanatic is going to be pretty familiar with popular board game publisher Asmodee Digital. They have produced digital versions of some of the most popular board games out there today. I thought I would never see the day. There's an official Bust-A-Move game from Taito Corporation on the Play Store, and it's a premium release. While some of you may know the franchise by its Japanese name Puzzle Bobble, this classic bubble shooter is better known in the West as Bust-A-Move. And while I'm sure absolutely no one has asked for yet another bubble shooter to be released on the Play Store, trust me when I say that this series is the originator of such gameplay and it's the best.

That's right, Bandai Namco has just announced that they'll be releasing an all new Tekken game for Android sometime soon. You can pre-register for the title today on this Tekken Mobile website. While I'm sure plenty of you 90's fighting game fans will be overjoyed with this announcement, the question remains, how will Bandai Namco monetize this mobile version of their popular franchise? Will this be a premium release, or will it be more of the same free-to-play content we have all come to expect?

PixWing - Flying Retro Pixel Arcade has recently released onto the Play Store and boy have I been having quite a lot of fun with it. It is an arcade flying game that brings back a lot of fond memories of flying around in Pilotwings or Nights into Dreams. The fact that the graphics look like something that was released on the Nintendo 64 or Dreamcast simply adds to its charm.
