About Matthew Sholtz

Matthew is the Games and Apps Editor at Android Police. He's been gaming since his first taste of a TI-99 at four years old. Matthew has been an Android user since the HTC Hero and has covered roundups, reviews, and daily mobile game news for over a decade. He's a person who holds a peculiar yet deep interest in all things to do with handheld gaming and constantly pushes to advance the state of the mobile industry beyond the bounds of its predatory monetization obsession.

Matthew is a furious nitpicker and something of an (albeit amusing) curmudgeon, a writer who can instantly find fault in just about anything, yet he chooses to wield this power for good from the comfort of his armchair to ensure the best Android games and apps aren't lost to obscurity.

Last year I stumbled across a post on Reddit that brought Toppluva AB's skiing game Grand Mountain Adventure to my attention. At the time the title was still in an unfinished state since it was released as a beta preview for testing purposes, though what was there was pretty impressive. Well, it would appear that the developer has been hard at work over the last six months. Toppluva AB has just announced that Grand Mountain Adventure is officially launching on the Play Store on March 27th.

The last we heard about The Elder Scrolls: Blades was back in November when the game was delayed to a release sometime in early 2019. Well, it would appear that we are finally inching closer to the official release date (whatever that may be) because The Elder Scrolls: Blades has gone live for those that were invited to the first wave of its early access.

11 bit studios released the side-scrolling survival strategy game This War of Mine on Android back in 2015. What people may not know is that the game had been available on PC since 2014. This PC version received new playable content in celebration of its third anniversary in 2017. Father's Promise is the first of three planned DLC stories for the PC release, and this expansion has finally made its way to the Google Play Store as a stand-alone release.

NyxQuest started out as an indie WiiWare release in 2009. At the time it was heralded as "pure platforming bliss," so of course the title was ported over to PC and then eventually iOS. Android for one reason or another never received a port, until today. Over the Top Games has finally released its beautiful puzzle-platformer NyxQuest: Kindred Spirits on the Google Play Store.
