About Matthew Sholtz

Matthew is the Games and Apps Editor at Android Police. He's been gaming since his first taste of a TI-99 at four years old. Matthew has been an Android user since the HTC Hero and has covered roundups, reviews, and daily mobile game news for over a decade. He's a person who holds a peculiar yet deep interest in all things to do with handheld gaming and constantly pushes to advance the state of the mobile industry beyond the bounds of its predatory monetization obsession.

Matthew is a furious nitpicker and something of an (albeit amusing) curmudgeon, a writer who can instantly find fault in just about anything, yet he chooses to wield this power for good from the comfort of his armchair to ensure the best Android games and apps aren't lost to obscurity.

Atari just released Missile Command: Recharged on the Google Play Store, and it's a reimagining of the classic arcade game, though shooting down an endless barrage of missiles is still the primary goal. The title is free-to-play and includes advertisements, but you can remove those ads through a single $2.99 in-app purchase, which means this is a fairly priced game, so it's definitely worth checking out.

War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius was first revealed in 2019 during a Square Enix E3 showcase, where we learned that the game would indeed be coming to the West with an English translation in tow. Well, it looks like we are finally nearing the official release for this Final-Fantasy-theme strategy RPG since the title just landed on the Play Store for pre-registration.

Ndemic Creations has been in the news a bunch lately, all because the developer made a game about a virus outbreak eight years ago. Back in February, Plague Inc was banned by the Cyberspace Administration of China during the coronavirus outbreak in the country. While the administration never confirmed a reason for banning the game, it was pretty clear the country's government wasn't a fan of a game where infecting the world with a virus is the goal. Well, as an answer to these strange events, Ndemic Creations has announced that a new mode is in the works for Plague Inc, and this time around, you'll be able to save the world from a virus instead of being tasked to infect it.

It's official, not only is GWENT: The Witcher Card Game finally coming to Android, it will be released on the Google Play Store on March 24. As of this morning, the game is available for pre-registration, and those that choose to pre-reg will earn an Imperial Golem avatar the first time they log into the game on Android.

It's been a long road, but online multiplayer is finally coming to Mario Kart Tour

By

It's official, Nintendo has tweeted the arrival date for Mario Kart Tour's long-awaited addition of online multiplayer. Back when the game first landed on Android in September of 2019, it was clear the lack of a true online multiplayer mode held the game back. Two months later, Nintendo released a limited online multiplayer beta for subscription members to test, and then a second beta took place at the end of this past January, and this one was open to the public. Well, now that fans and the general public alike have adequately tested the upcoming multiplayer mode, it's now clear that we can expect the official arrival of Mario Kart Tour's online multiplayer on March 8th.
