Amazon's new tablet, the Kindle Fire, has been grabbing all of the headlines following Amazon's press event yesterday, and rightfully so. Football. The "beautiful game" full of highs and lows, drama and controversy, near misses and outright blunders. Americans call it soccer, but in England, where we have the best leagues in the world and the best fans to match, we know better than that.

Believe it or not, Connect Four was originally released in February of 1974, which makes it 37 years old. In that time, it's seen some minor updates and variations, but it mostly remains the same game that it was all those years ago with a plastic grid and some colored tokens.

No, that isn't a typo in the title - Samsung has indeed just unveiled a 5.3-inch phone, the 'Galaxy Note', at IFA 2011 to join the rest of its growing Galaxy family. The insanely big device doesn't just stop there, though, as Samsung has paired it with one of its Super AMOLED displays at a resolution of 1280 x 800. That happens to be the same resolution as my 13-inch laptop, so you get an idea of just how sharp this thing is, with a pixel density of 285ppi.

With its $99 fire sale price, the TouchPad finally hit the sweet spot. Units have been selling like crazy over the past week, but it seems as though one new owner got a little more than he bargained for. No, unfortunately HP didn't accidentally send him 100 units for the price of one, but he did allegedly receive a unit running Android 2.2, rather than webOS.

At Samsung, size clearly does matter. The South Korean company has just released a new promotional video for the release of the Galaxy S II in the USA, with one theme: big.

For the mathematically lazy, that effectively makes the price just $278.

If you've ever wanted to keep an eye on your computer from your smartphone whilst you're out and about, then you'll know how limited your options are. You could use a remote monitoring tool such as LogMeIn Ignition to physically control the machine, but it doesn't offer a quick overview of resources on your phone and the application costs a cent shy of $30, which isn't exactly a price that encourages impulse buying.

Well it's about bloody time! The last we heard, Acer's Iconia Tab A100 - the little sibling of the larger, 10-inch A500 - was being delayed due to Honeycomb restrictions on 7-inch displays.  Fortunately, though, it seems that all of those issues are now firmly in the past for Acer, as Engadget is reporting that the company is readying its tablet for an early August launch, with a suggested retail price of $300.
