Can you remember that incredibly mediocre Stargate-branded Infinity Blade clone? Good. Now, can you forget it? A much better alternative for nostalgic fans just went live in the Play Store. Stargate SG-1: Unleashed (Episode 1) fits into the general action genre, set in the universe of the expansive TV series. While the game itself doesn't look like much, it does get one thing right: the main characters (Colonel O'Neill, Colonel Carter, Teal'c, and Dr. Jackson) are all voiced by their original actors from the TV show. It's the first time the main cast has been reunited since 2008.

Remember that children's book, Harold and the Purple Crayon? This is essentially that book made into a game, minus the toddler, and plus a lot of physics elements. Crayon Physics Deluxe has been making fans on the PC and iOS for years, and yesterday it finally hit the Play Store (after slumming it on the Galaxy Note 10.1 for a few months). The objective is to roll a 2D ball over a star, but that's like saying the point of baseball is to hit a ball with a stick: There's a lot more to it.

Verizon, please sit down. We've all come here to talk to you because we care about you. Actually, most of us don't, but we recognize that you've got a problem. You have too many apps. No, don't try to deny it. You've got 11 apps spread across two publishers, and today you've added another one, with a brand new publisher, that duplicates at least some of the functionality of two previous ones. Don't try to hide it in your Services Corp pocket. We see the innocuously-titled Verizon FiOS Mobile app poking out.

While Google declined to mention exactly how much it spent on Waze, it's a safe bet that it was a lot, since both Apple and Facebook had previously expressed interest.

According to Reuters, Softbank has upped its bid from October of last year to $21.6 billion USD for 78% control of Sprint, topping its previous commitment of $20 billion for 70%. I have a confession to make: most of the programs you might want to run on this emulator were written before I was born. But if you're the kind of seasoned geek who really did watch the original Star Wars in theaters (and watched it in Europe), you might just remember having an Amstrad brand computer in your basement. Developer Kokak (who we've featured before) has released Droid-CPC, a full emulator for the Amstrad line of PCs. If you've got program files, the emulator should be able to run them on most Android hardware.

Availability and pricing haven't been announced, but "soon" and "not very much" are safe assumptions.

In their never-ending quest to bring CyanogenMod to every Android device on the face of the planet (or at least all of them with unlocked bootloaders, modern hardware, and a big user base - not all that many, in fact, forget I mentioned it) the CM team is expanding the 10.1 build to three new devices this weekend. The unlocked international LTE version of the Galaxy S4 (GT-i9505) and Cricket's branded variant both get new nightly builds of the ROM, as does the WiFi-only version of Sony's Xperia Tablet Z.

If you haven't been following the broader tech news lately, GPS navigation provider Waze has been the corporate equivalent of a desperate college freshman, trying to find a match before the end of the first semester. The scuttlebutt is that both Apple and Facebook have shown interest in acquiring the Israel-based company within the last year. Now two credible sources, Israeli business websites Globes and Calcalist, report that Google has swooped in and agreed to purchase the company for a cool $1.3 billion.

After two years on the market, Google Wallet has failed to gain any kind of meaningful foothold in the mobile payment world. That's the gist of a new report from Bloomberg Businessweek, slamming Google's mobile and NFC payment service as a "money pit" and unlikely to succeed against existing and upcoming competitors. Among the publication's chief complaints are $300 million in investments and acquisitions, and hundreds of developers on staff, all for less than 10 million downloads in the Google Play Store.

It's been quite a while since the Android version of HalfBrick's food murder simulator Fruit Ninja got a content update, but the dry spell ends today. The latest additions to the free app (and only the free app) include better support for Android tablets and a basket full of extra goodies. The most important bit is certainly the introduction of a local, single-device multiplayer mode, though you'll need a 7" or larger tablet to take advantage of it. Players slice fruit at the opposite ends of the screen to compete for a high score.

If you're in the market for a Cricket Wireless phone, the carrier is offering some downright fantastic deals at the moment. They're offering massive mail-in rebates of $200 off the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S III, and HTC One SV (in addition to their regular web discounts), delivered in the form of a Visa prepaid card. Thanks to a surprisingly low starting price, Samsung's Galaxy S4 is just $329.99 with the rebate - and that's not a contract price. Cricket sells all its phones outright. These deals appear to be valid only for online orders from the Cricket website.

When Samsung started expanding its "trademark" navigation control design (elongated physical home button + two capacitive buttons) beyond its smartphone range, I bet you never thought it would get this far. TechTastic has grabbed some photos of the alleged Galaxy S4 Zoom, a camera-phone hybrid based on the ubiquitous Galaxy S4. These photos roughly match the leaked press image that SamMobile showed off yesterday. This thing is real, or at least real enough that some hardware has been produced.
