FreshBooks Releases Official Android App
People think that working from home as a freelancer is a great way to make a living. And most of the time it is - being able to complete a project at 4AM sans pants is something that rarely works in a cubicle. But when you're self-employed, all the burdens that are normally handled by an accounting department fall on you. That's where popular iOS app and recent Android pilgrim FreshBooks comes in.
The Sony Honami, or possibly the Xperia i1, still doesn't have an official existence. But it's been spotted in leaked renders and system dumps, so it's a pretty safe bet that it's coming to market at some point. The big phone with an even bigger camera sensor was recently spotted hanging out with an iPhone 5 on Chinese forum Digi-Wo, which also compared it to a less bombastic Xperia Z.
Last week the NFL released a shiny new version of its official Android app. There were some nice additions, like a much-improved interface and some team tracking features. Oh, and it unceremoniously kicked rooted users to the bench, not even allowing them to check scores. Considering that at least some of them had paid Verizon or a cable provider for access to live streaming video, they were justifiably upset.

In a detailed post to Google+ this morning, Googler Virgil Dobjanschi announced new and enhanced features for the Google+ Android app. They'll be arriving in an update to version 4.1, set to go live today. According to Dobjanschi, the changes are focused on additions and revisions suggested by end users, and looking at the list, we're inclined to believe him.

Flip phones are still pretty huge in the Asian market. And I don't mean the standard freebies you can get on contract elsewhere, I'm talking big-screen, full-OS, powerful flip phones that still use the old T9 dialpad layout. Samsung is hoping to get a piece of that pie with the Android-powered Hennessy (SCH-W789), a flip phone with dual 3.3" screens and Android 4.1. It's currently set for a Chinese release, though an exact price or date isn't available.
Considering that Amazon owns Woot.com, the go-to place for single-day sales, it's amazing how often incredibly steep deals can be found on the Gold Box portal. Today it's another round of dramatic discounts on SanDisk's line of flash storage cards and drives. For Android users, the MicroSD cards are the most interesting: you can grab a Sandisk Ultra 32GB card for .99 (71% off the regular price of $69.99) or the 64GB version for .99 (58% off the regular price of $99.99).

It's been nine months to the day since Android 4.2 was announced, and just under four months since Samsung's first non-Nexus 4.2 devices started hitting the shelves. But apparently it takes at least that long to make sure that every non-touch gesture and gyroscopic scrolling function works with a new version of Android. Case in point: both the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 WiFi (GT-P3110) in the UK and the Galaxy Note 8.0 3G (GT-N5100) in Germany are just now getting updated, according to SamMobile.

Ready for some more Android Open Source Project woes? In addition to the Nexus 7 drama over AOSP builds in the last couple of weeks, it looks like there are some issues with the Nexus 10 as well. Don't worry, the Android 4.3 factory image for the N10 is sitting on the Google Developers page, proud and happy, but the binaries and drivers for some individual components on the tablet seem to be missing, most notably the graphics driver. It's available for 4.2.2, but not 4.3. What's up?
Last week we got our first telling glance of a new HTC smartphone hanging out in China: the T6, or as it may come to be known, the HTC One Max. This purported beast of a phone has the styling of the HTC One with a reported 5.9" screen. Today Evleaks, the Deepthroat of the smartphone world, released a press render on his new Google+ account.
If you like the idea of being able to upgrade your phone once a year instead of every two, AT&T is more than happy to oblige with its Next plans... for a price. But adoption must have been a bit more tepid than they anticipated, because the monthly payments for phones on the Next plans seem to have been reduced without fanfare. Most phones have had their monthly finance-free charges reduced by a dollar, but some of the flagship phones have $5 reductions, scaling up to $60-100 in savings depending on when you upgrade.
There may be a new Nexus 10 coming, but that doesn't make last year's Samsung tablet any less impressive. If you've had your eye on the 32GB version of Google's biggest, fanciest Nexus, eBay has a deal for you: $130 and just over 25% off the retail price. Yup, the 32GB Nexus 10 is on sale right now for $369.99, which is $30 cheaper than even the 16GB version in the Google Play Store.
One of the biggest complaints about Samsung's latter tablet lines (aside from the plastic builds, outdated specifications, lack of storage, and oh yeah the freakin' smartphone buttons) is that they're too expensive when compared to similar Android tablets. Sammy is hoping to alleviate at least a few of these complaints with some pack-in deals for the Galaxy Note 8.0, Galaxy Tab 3 (all versions), and the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Student Edition.
