Cody is a Deals Writer for Android Police, which means he usually has a dozen or so Safari tabs open, comparing prices and reading product reviews. He covers everything from short-term flash sales to frequently updated roundups, and produces the occasional shopping guide.

Cody has been writing about technology, professionally, since 2011. Prior to that, he spent nearly a decade in sales, where he honed his communication skills and understanding of consumer behavior.

In his spare time, Cody likes to watch sports, binge the latest streaming hit, and play disc golf.

What was your first phone and what do you remember about it?

My mom worked at Nokia for decades, and was always given access to samples and excess inventory, so I used dozens of different Nokia models throughout high school. The most memorable one was easily the N95. It ran Nokia's Symbian OS and it had this unique, two-way sliding design that would reveal a full keypad in the up position, and playback controls when slid down. It felt like it was years ahead of its time, as it could display full web pages, play stored audio and video files, and it had built-in GPS with integrated maps and navigation. You could also download and install apps and games, and it had a 5MP camera with flash and video stabilization. All of these things were unheard of in the pre-iPhone era.

How long have you been interested in technology?

I have been interested in technology since I was a child, flipping through the Circuit City and Radio Shack circulars in the Sunday paper. I also had subscriptions to magazines like Computer Shopper, and would force my mom to take me on weekly trips to stores like Best Buy and CompUSA.

My obsession with mobile tech started with a Rio Nike MP3 Player, which then gave way to PDAs, and eventually smartphones. I remember sending monthly, if not weekly, emails to Nokia with suggestions on how to make their phones better. So yeah, I guess you can say I was always destined for this line of work.
