In its constant effort to catch up with Verizon's ever-expanding 4G LTE network, AT&T has just announced a handful of new LTE markets, as well as expansion in two:

If you're looking for a tablet that can also function as a laptop, it's hard to beat ASUS' Transformer series. And out of the current lineup, the reigning champ is definitely the Infinity. Its 1900x1200 display is one of the best you can get in an Android tablet, and the 1.7GHz quad-core Tegra 3 keeps things running smoothly. Plus, when coupled with the keyboard dock, the battery life is pretty phenomenal. The thing is - even at Amazon's price of $630 - it's a little on the steep side, given the current competition.
I have a confession to make: I love weather apps. It's not so much that I always want to know what the weather is (even though I do), it's that I just loving seeing all that information on one screen. Current temp, high, low, time, hourly and daily forecast - it's enlightening. Like so many other people, though, I don't just want to see this info in a dry manner. Weather in text form is boring - I want it to be pretty! You know, like weather is naturally.
While there may be a lot to like about being a Verizon customer - like coast to coast LTE coverage, for example - there's also a laundry list of things to dislike, too. Close to the top of that list is Verizon's bootloader policy: lock it down tight, to prevent modifications. But, you know just as much as I do, the Android modding community just won't settle for "no, you can't have ROM X on your device."

Fuhu - the creator of the nabi and nabi 2 tablets - is on fire. Just a little over one week ago, they announced the nabi Jr., a new 5" tablet designed for small children, and today they're back at it with a tablet designed just for tweens: the nabi XD.
It's been a long time coming, hasn't it owners of AT&T Galaxy Tab 8.9's (SGH-i957)? All other variants of Samsung's Galaxy Tab 8.9 have been sporting Ice Cream Sandwich for weeks - even months in some situations. And it's finally your turn. I'm genuinely happy for you. Seriously. I am. You waited it out, and you deserve this.
We've talked about Republic Wireless a few times 'round here at AP. From when it was first announced, to several milestones along the way - we've followed along with what's happening at RW somewhat closely.
When the Nexus 4 was officially launched, it sold out quickly. A couple weeks later, Google re-opened the orders for another go. It went a little bit smoother the second time, but users were left waiting anywhere between two to eight weeks to get their glorious N4s. During all of this, though, the official bumper cases were sold out basically the entire time. Some users were able to grab one during the initial order process, but that's the extent of it - they've been out of stock ever since.
Still using Yahoo! Mail, eh? Good news! The app just hit v2, which, like most full-version releases, brings all sorts of new goodies. First, and probably the most noticeable, is that the app is now called Y! Mail and it has a brand spankin' new UI. Don't tell GMail I said this, but I actually think Y! Mail's new look is pretty decent.
I have to say, Samsung is on a roll with the updates lately. There's no denying that AirDroid is one of the most powerful and useful applications available for Android today, and with version 2 in the works, it's about to get even better. But the thing is, v2 is going to be in private beta testing for the next three months. That's a long time to wait to get in on the action.
Back in the Gingerbread days, I swore by GO Launcher. I tried all the others, yet it was my go-to on every device before the Galaxy Nexus. Sadly, as much as I wanted to continue using it past Android 2.3, GO became basically obsolete on ICS and beyond.
The Nexus 4 is unique among Android phones, as it's one of the first to feature glass on both the front and back. As such, thoughts of seeing the brand new handset covered in scratches has haunted my dreams since I first cracked the box open. Android 4.2 brought a nifty, albeit it somewhat useless, new feature called Daydreams. In a nutshell, Daydreams is just a screensaver, which might be useful in some situations - specifically on tablets. For the current time, though, there are only a few different stock options for Daydreams: clock, colors, Currents, Photo Frame, and Photo table. There are also a few apps out there that have incorporated the feature - like Beautiful Widgets, for example - further increasing Daydreams' usefulness.
Many moons ago - way back in March - we covered a Space Invaders-type game called Star Defender 3. It looks like space didn't stay safe for very long and now it needs to be defended again, because Awem Studio just released the sequel: Star Defender 4. And if you thought three was crazy - wait until you see all the action packed into four. It's nutty.
