About Aatif Sumar

Aatif has been captivated by the green robot since the Galaxy S. He enjoys not crashing flying his drone, night photography, and advocating for the Shield TV. He hasn't lost hope and still thinks a Messiah smartphone with removable batteries, expandable storage, and an IR blaster will one day return to save us all.

When it comes to high-end televisions, Sony arguably rules the roost — the Android TV-running X950G lineup is a popular choice amongst average and expert consumers alike. If you've had your eye out for a Sony 4K TV, two models of the 2019 lineup are currently on sale — the 55" and 65" variants of the X950G, and the 75" variant of the X900F.

The OnePlus 6 and 6T may be last year's devices, but the company still seems to be hard at work on pushing out timely updates for them, including the much-anticipated screen recorder feature. This, along with a new security patch, is coming to all variants of the OnePlus 6 & 6T (except the T-Mo OnePlus 6T) via OxygenOS 9.0.15 / 9.0.7, which begin their incremental rollout today.

Most smart security cameras need a wired connection to receive power, which can be a pain when setting up cameras outdoors. The Blink XT2 is amongst the few battery-operated security cameras, lasting up to 2 years on a pair of standard AA cells. For Prime Day, Amazon-owned Blink is having a massive sale on the recently launched Blink XT2, with prices dropping to as low as $50 a pop.

We're in day two of Prime "Day" and the deals keep coming — here's a particularly interesting one on a mesh router. Netgear's Orbi line of Wi-Fi routers are known for their reliability and range and are arguably the best mesh Wi-Fi system on the market. Two variants, RKB23 and RKB33, are on sale right now for under $200, with the price dropping another $10 if you use today's “Buy More, Get More” promotion. The Orbi RKB33 consists of one router and two Satellite Extenders, which can be directly plugged into wall sockets. Rated for a coverage area of 5000 square feet, this AC2200 (meaning 802.11 AC with 2.2Gbps of bandwidth) router can also connect up to four wired devices to your network via Ethernet ports in the main router. This router, dubbed the "Wall-Plug Performance Wi-Fi", is currently on sale for $195.

Prime Day is upon us and the deals are coming fast and furious. Here's a budget phone sale that caught our eye — the Moto G7 can be had for two Benjamins right now, down from $300 when Ryan reviewed it just a few months ago. Also on sale are its younger siblings, the G7 Power and G7 Play. The Moto G7 makes a decent entry-level option, with a 6.2-inch 1080p display, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage with a microSD card slot, and a Snapdragon 632 processor powering it along. The 3000mAh battery quick-charges over USB-C, and you get facial recognition and a fingerprint sensor to unlock your device. You can check out Ryan's review of the phone, where he praises the design, software experience, and the fact that it retains a headphone jack.Along with this, the Moto G7 Play is on sale for $156, the lowest I've seen this drop to. It's basically the G7, with a smaller 5.7-inch 720p display, a larger notch, and less RAM and storage. No to be left out, the G7 Power also went on sale yesterday for $190. This is a G7 Play, with a larger 6.2-inch display, in case 5.7" was too compact for your liking. These are Prime Exclusive variants of the Moto G7 family, so Alexa will be built-in, but you aren't restricted from disabling any features or using the network provider of your choice — it works on everything but CDMA operators like Verizon.Buy: (G7: 0), (G7 Play: 6), (G7 Power: 0)

There's no dearth of true wireless earbuds options out there, but most deliver sound quality that's good-ish, at best. To get superior audio quality, you usually have to go wired or at least settle for a wire between the earbuds. German audio company Sennheiser's late entry to this market, the Momentum, bucks this trend and is arguably the leader in audio quality — though it comes at a steep $300 price. If you have your eyes on a pair, Fry's currently has them on sale for $200, or $100 off.

The Chromecast is a handy gadget to have plugged into the TV — letting you initiate and control video playback from your streaming service of choice all from a smartphone. With the Google-Amazon spat finished, the last frontier, aka Prime Video, has also been breached. If you're looking to get a Chromecast, a 2-pack of the current gen model can be had at Best Buy for $50, effectively $25 a pop.

Chromebooks come in all price points — from cheaply built, underpowered $100 machines, to the mighty Pixel Book, which retailed for ten times that. In the middle, there a few Chromebooks that toe the line between price and functionality — like the Lenovo C330, a recipient of the AP "Most Wanted" award and our pick for "best cheap Chromebook", which is currently available for just $204 over at Rakuten.

When it comes to security cameras for your smart home, Arlo has the reputation of making premium products that work reliably and are easy to install — thanks to the ability to run wire-free on internal batteries. The Arlo Pro 2 is currently on sale at Best Buy and Amazon, with the four-pack going for $550 and two-pack for $299.

This five billion figure is tempered by the fact that Chrome comes pre-installed on Android devices running Google Play services, but it's a feat worth noting nonetheless. Chrome has been picking up some interesting new features recently, like a password generator, better file sharing, and since its 2019, a dark theme.

Bundles are a good way to get a markdown on two complementary products, and sometimes the bundle gets marked down so much it's actually cheaper to buy than just one of its components. This may only happen rarely but it results in some mouth-watering deals — like today's smart garage bundle, where the Amazon Cloud Cam Key Edition ($120 value) and myQ Smart Garage Door Opener ($50 value) can be had for just a hundred bucks, a cool $70 off.

If you're looking for a solution to keep track of your home while away, a smart security camera is a good option — they're easy to set up, don't require additional hardware, and don't cost too much. The TP-Link Kasa Cam is one such smart camera and it's currently on sale for $62 — it usually sells for around $80, down from the MSRP of $100.

True wireless Bluetooth earbuds were introduced in 2014 by the likes of the Bragi Dash and later popularized by the Apple Airpods. Since then, we've seen incremental developments like fitness tracking on the Jabra Elite Active 65T and wireless charging on the Samsung Galaxy Buds, but the form factor has essentially remained the same — a pair of earbuds stored inside a charging case that goes in your pocket. Aipower, a sub-brand of Aukey, is looking to shake things up with the Aipower Wearbuds (that recently went live on Kickstarter) by combining true wireless earbuds with a wrist-based fitness tracker.

You may already own a Bluetooth speaker or two, but can it plug into a guitar, be used with a mic for karaoke, and wake up your neighbors a few doors down? The JBL PartyBox 200 sure can, and it's currently $50 off at various retailers.

This 4K television (model number 60R5800E) from Hisense has Roku's OS built-in, making it a breeze to set up and access your streaming services — even more so if you already have a Roku account, as a single login is all you need.

The Galaxy Buds is Samsung's third generation of fully wireless Bluetooth earbuds, and it's on sale this weekend for just $80. Verizon is selling both colors for $100, down from $130, with an additional $20 rebate available in the form of a prepaid debit card.

Is your living room missing a humungous high-end TV? We track the prices of all kinds of consumer electronics, and noticed a significant price drop in a few Sony X900F models — the 75-inch and 85-inch versions of this highly-rated 4K TV can be had for $2600 and $4000 respectively, up to a cool $500 less than the previous deal we saw.The Sony X9000F line has been well reviewed by RTings, so you can expect image quality that's a step above lower and mid-range TVs. There's compatibility with HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision, and the 120Hz refresh rate makes these a solid option for gaming. Also, since they support Android TV, you don't need an additional Chromecast or Fire TV to stream your content of choice. You can buy these TVs at Amazon, Best Buy, or B&H. If you don't mind an open-box unit, you can save a couple of hundred dollars at Best Buy, though buying it from B&H will get you a free Google Home Mini, and you may save on Sales Tax (depending on your state).Buy: Sony X900F 75": $2598 ($900 off MSRP/$200 off last price) — (Amazon), (B&H), (Best Buy)Sony X900F 85": $3998 ($1300 off MSRP/$500 off last price) — (Amazon), (B&H), (Best Buy)

Hitting a billion installs on the Play Store is so passé — over thirty apps have now reached that milestone. Hitting 5 billion installs, on the other hand, puts you in an elite group with YouTube, Maps, and Search — and Gmail just made the cut.

Possibly frustrated by leaks, more companies seem to be going ahead and leaking upcoming products themselves — Google did so yesterday with the Pixel 4, and now Mobvoi has published (and then taken down) a landing page which revealed a new LTE equipped TicWatch Pro.

The Galaxy S10e may be the lowest-priced member of the S10 family, but its arguably the most interesting, offering value-for-money unheard of in the Galaxy S range. The international dual-SIM variant of the S10e has been dropping in price, from $600 in April, to $520 in May, and now to 0. If the lack of warranty is a deal-breaker, $550 gets you the US variant from B&H.
