When It Comes To Ads, Android Users Are 80% More Valuable Than iPhone Users

Dan Ruby, Research Director for ad firm Chitika, just pinged us to share his latest Android research findings. The research compared the Apple and Google mobile platforms to determine which is more profitable for advertising, and the answer is overwhelmingly Android. When we say overwhelmingly, we mean by 80%:

As usual, this is based on Chitika's ad network - so while the numbers are likely pretty accurate, they're not necessarily official.

Android Gets App-Switching Eye Candy: Visual Task Switcher Now Available On The Market

One of the most vaunted features of webOS was its decidedly pretty multitasking interface. Users could invoke an overlay of thumbnail “cards” of their running applications and switch to or close them.

Fresh onto the Android Marketplace is Visual Task Switcher. Continuing on from some progress made earlier this year (although probably not using the same method), this application grants you thumbnail application switching. While not as polished as Palm’s version, this is an encouraging step towards that alluring goal.

Modder's Monday: Hacking Without Hacking - A Guide to Customizing Your Android Device Without Voiding Your Warranty

Modder’s Monday is a weekly column about rooting, hacking, and other forms of modifying Android written by Jaroslav Stekl, a man who spends his days coding, hacking, hiking, and of course, writing for Android Police.

One of the many things that I love about Android, especially after spending several years with an iPhone, is how customizable it is - right out of the box. You can change your keyboard, tweak the status bar to make it work any way you like, change apps’ icons, and even install home replacements that alter how your homescreen works.

AppBrain Rolls Out New Ways To Search, Filter, And Discover Your Next Favorite Apps In The Android Market

Let's face it: browsing the Android Market on your desktop currently sucks. For one thing, there aren't any categories - just "Top Free" and "Top Paid." For another, there's no search!

On your phone, the situation isn't much better - you can search, which is good if you know what you're looking for in advance but you still can't filter those results. And discovering new apps is just downright horrible.

This is where sites like AppBrain come in.

Awesome App For Rooted Users: adbWireless

If you’re a rooted user, you’re probably familiar with the ADB command, and that it requires you to connect your phone to your PC with a cable. Enter adbWireles, which allows you to - wait for it - use ADB over WiFi.

The specifics of how it works are pretty technical, but here’s the laymans version provided by the dev (and translated from Spanish by the Goog):

adbWireless is a simple application to enable the wireless interface debug Android.

PhysX Live Wallpaper - One Of The Sexiest Live Wallpapers We’ve Seen

A new live wallpaper (LWP) app has been released on the Market. LWPs may be a dime a dozen, but this one is definitely worth a look:

From what I can tell, there is no actual relation to NVIDIA/Ageia's PhysX engine, other than a focus on physics (who would’ve guessed?). The effect is quite cool though - the particles move based on how you’re holding the phone, and can be set to act in various manners.
